She showed a lot of potential in TotJ as a child, but KOTOR simply jumped over her era. I know Bastila's character was originally going to be Vima, hope we could know more about her Jedi life in SWTOR.
I think most of the potential of TotJ was wasted. Should have been something that was continually expanded upon, but Dark Horse abandoned it, and then BioWare effectively steamrolled over it. Don't get me wrong, I thought the KOTOR games were fun and I love the comics, but they're like something else entirely. They don't feel like they even exist in the same era. They each have their own strengths which I love, but I feel BioWare didn't pay the comics they originated from the respect they deserved.
There should be a break after the Great Sith War, I'm ok with setting the story 40+ years after that war. But KotoR didn't connect with TotJ well enough. Vima would only be like 45-50 during KOTOR I&II but we didn't see her.
I'm curious as to why Sith spirits don't show up in the KOTOR games. Wasn't it been implied that Korriban was full of them? Also, what happened to Ziost? It had a major role in TOTJ but is totally absent from KOTOR and KOTOR II.
There was there whole issue with one of the car companies over the name sunrider so that kind of stopped lucas licensing from being abke to use the name.
The Sunrider issue has always baffled me... Some reports imply the story is real, others make it sound like it never existed, and I think I've seen the name in some of the Codex entries in TOR, so... dunno.
But Bastila's personality was quite different than Vima, would the story be totally different if they use her?
Ziost only plays a major role in the 5,000 BBY stories; it's absent from the stuff dealing with the Great Sith War as well. So that's not that odd.
When I saw the thread tittle I thought "Why are wondering if she was drunk?" and then the coin dropped. Yeah, I agree she was wasted, which is sad because she had some potential.
"Wasted" is also slang for "killed". I think TotJ were incomplete. They lacked information about the galaxy, the jedi, the republic. The only time, when I felt it was truly sc-fi, was when Nomi Sunrider organized the big Jedi conference. I liked it, but it had this aura of post-apocalyptic time.
TotJ was just the beginning of the Old Republic Saga, it showed up a different era's character. Yes the Jedi and the Republic weren't introduced much, but it gave us the long history of the Sith.
No I think that was Nomi. She's the one who (after running a huge rescue mission) leaves Ulic to decide on his own and suffer the consequences of his decisions ....... as will half the galaxy, great job Nomi. Now she was definitely wasted during that whole thing.
That was her flaw, I'm a bit pissed that Exar Kun never had any encounter with her, like trying to turn her to the Dark Side to use her Battle Meditation.
Eh, Vima lived a happy and longed lived life. We also know she survived Revan as did her bloodline. So I suppose that's good enough for me.
The KOTOR comic series also had many references to TOTJ. I think it was fun to see Haazen before and during the Sith War.
It's real. Sue and Chris Avellone both confirmed it. Apparently TOR called Nomi "Nomi-Da-Boda" in its codex. We're still not sure exactly what the controversy is, with the Jeep thing being nothing more than fan speculation. Hydro heard differently from Randy, who reportedly claimed at a con that the issues come from Tom Veitch having had a previously existing character called "Sunrider" in another work.
