I haven't seen this particular link made before. This struck me a while back.

You know the scene were Wat Tambor's voice-box malfunctions... the way he continues to talk and make hand gestures almost exactly mirrors Vader's infamous hand-gesturing-but-no-talking scene with Tarkin in ANH.

Many here have speculated that Techno Union technology supplies Vader's life support equipment. So this is in one- a neat connection between the two, a cool nod to ANH (like Jango bumping his head) and a way to incorporate a 25 yr old mistake into the great rhyming scheme of the PT and OT.

Take it as you want, GL explaining away the infamous editing miscue or a humorus aknowledgement.

Makes sense to me. Never thought of it that way.

The only reason Vader gestured without talking was that Dave Prowse moved too long, and the line didn't fit the entire gesture. Wat Tambor just had a voice box error.

Could somebody please refresh my memory? Where was that scene in ANH? For some reason, I can't recall it just now... :)

Off the top of my head, I think it's the scene where the Imperials find out that Dantooine was not a rebel base after all. Vader says that Leia would never have willingly given knowledge about the base, and Tarkin orders her execution.

During this, Dave Prowse gestures a bit too long :)

Not only inappropriate, but your post was also grossly off-topic too...

Ever since I first saw AOTC, I thought that the Techno Union Army built Vader's life support equipment. Why Count Dooku talks and sounds like Vader has me suspicious as well.

Why do you find it so interesting that Dooku "sounds like Vader", exactly?

AS revenge for chopping off Anakin's arm, Vader will rip out Dooku's voice box and replace it with his own. That old voicebox of his had a mind of it's own, didn't you ever wonder why Vader never said "Yippee"

That's how actor Christopher Lee talks. Go watch LotR...

I don't know about the hand gestures, could be a coincidence.

But I agree the Techon Union guy always seemend to me as a little hint at the future. His suit is a prototype which will be developed and Vader will get the newer flashier model with the James Earl Jones voice Box!!

I suppose they could use the voice box part but the rest of his suit doesn't look like it could a early version.

Thats a good thought, Jericho, about Wat's gestures. I never thought of the gesturing at all but now that you point it out, it's a great humurous way to explain off David Prowses actions. For ANH, though, I never thought of it as Prowse taking too long to finish the gesturing as much as someone placing Mr Jones overdub a bit too soon and it didn't line up with Prowses lines and actions.

However, upon seeing Wat in AotC, I thought of apparatus much like Vaders. Wat, as you may guess from my icon, is my favourite new side-character from AotC. Just a fantastic design and a clear indication that the Techno Union is on Vaders and Sidious' side.

Hopefully in Epi 3, something will happen to Obi-Wans lightsaber to explain why it becomes a silver-rod in ANH as well.

Thanks. Wat Tambor was a highlight(one of many) of AOTC for me too. He was "so GL". I was rather surprised that they didn't fix the dubbing problem when I first saw the SE of ANH in '97. It got a good laugh from the audience. It's right up there(maybe 2nd only to the stormtrooper almost knocking himself the f out) in my favorite silly ANH momments.
