Weddings and other binding ceremonies

I'm playing Star Wars Galaxies with my main OC character and in the future parts of my story as well as in Galaxies I would like her to be married.
So I'm trying to come up with a ceremony that will be used in the game and written into my story, but I'm having trouble coming up with unique ideas.

There was a lovely ceremony description in Blame Nat (which was just updated on the Classic boards btw) and that is similar to what I had in mind, but of course I don't want to copy that idea.

Does anyone have any suggestions, and what are some of the unique things done in the cannon ceremonies as well?

 

You might want to check out the comic series Union. Luke Skywalker and Mara Jade's wedding is explored in detail here. In Courtship of Princess Leia of course we see Leia and Han's wedding but other than those two I'm not aware of anymore weddings that have been written out.. Hope that helps some

 

If I could find Union in the bookstore anymore I'd buy it.. though I know about that a little from the article the star wars chicks site had on it a while back. As for Han an Leia, there is nothing in that book about what the ceremony was like except that they held hands and said vows and Leia seemed happy.. it was less than a page long

I do know that Corran and Mirax had a wedding of sorts in the X-wing books somewhere.. I know its in one of the first four but I can't recall which, anyone know?

I'm not sure where it is, but somewhere around the boards, someone did a fanficization of Union.

 

I have Union, and frankly Luke and Mara's wedding was an awful lot like a traditional American non-religious-specific wedding. I wish they'd gotten a little more exotic with it. But beforehand they did have a Jedi bonding ceremony that involved saying vows of sorts and holding a symbolic joining with crystals that were melded together to represent their new union. But since that was held specifically as a Jedi ceremony (which may have been either researched from salvaged Jedi records or semi-made-up, it's never clear) I don't know if that could be used for ordinary GFFA characters. The basis of using symbolic representation of bonding, however, can be altered a bit and still played around with.
