How many of you guys here are fans of Weezer? I've been a fan of theirs since 1994 when the blue album came out and I just bought and listened to The Red Album. I'm overall fairly impressed. It's not quite up to par to their old stuff but it's certainly closer than they've been in a LONG LONG time. The Greatest Man That Ever Lived is like a Weezer Bohemian Rhapsody or something.

If you haven't yet, go Click Here to check out their Pork and Beans music video on YouTube.

It's probably the best or second best song on the album because it has that "blue album" feel in the chorus and Pinkerton "El Scorcho" feel in the verses. The video is awesome because well.... they use LIGHTSABER DRUMSTICKS.

And what could possibly be cooler than that. lol.
Anyway what do you guys think of the =w=eez?

That's what I thought, too. As for the rest of the album, I liked "The Greatest Man" but most of the rest didn't do much for me. The Rivers songs were okay but don't stand out really, and the other guys' songs were pretty weak. The deluxe version bonus tracks were pretty interesting: "Miss Sweeney" is a pretty cool McCartney/Wings rip, "Pig" a poppy version of the Pumpkins' "Mayonaise" morphing into a poppy version of "Bohemian Rhapsody," and "The Spider" is pretty much "Butterfly" from Pinkerton crossed with Extreme's "More Than Words."

Pork and Beans was a last minute addition to the album. The record company told them there was no single on the album, so Rivers wrote Pork and Beans to be the single.

Really? You've never heard of them before? Buddy Holly, The Sweater Song, Keep Fishin' (notable as a popular video with the muppets), Hash Pipe...these are probably their most notable songs (maybe you may have heard them before but haven't realized it?)

The Red Album is okay. Nothing special really, and they should really can the idea of letting the other band members take lead vocals on any future albums. My faves remain Blue and Pinkerton (anybody remember how Pinkerton was savaged by critics and fans alike when it first came out and now it is a revisionist classic? It always was good, they just needed time to catch up :p )
