Wes Janson = Dead?

Did Janson survive the Battle For Coruscant in TUF?


We know his Yellow Aces were involved with the taking of Coruscant....


But two of the pilots attacking the Citadel were talking about being sucked in by dovin basal anomolies....(page 398)

Unknown Pilot: "They're swallowing every bolt I'm feeding them."

Gavin Darklighter: "Just watch out they don't take a fancy to you."

Unknown Pilot: "Yeah, they've developed a real taste for starfighters."

Gavin: "Especially yellow ones with black stripes."

Unknown Pilot: "Copy that, Rogue Leader"

 

I thought that comment was directed in general about the Yellow Aces and not Janson in particular.

Janson better not have died or I'll be so very sad. As far as I'm concerned, Janson is alive unless otherwise stated.

Although this did not say he was dead in the book I would not be suprised to see that he does die during the battle, due to the fact that I dont see him having a role in any other star wars books and the fact that no one really died other the Ackbar of old age in the novel.

 

When I read that line, I took it to mean that he was trying to be sarcastic towards Janson. I doubt he's dead.

 

He isn't dead. They'd mention it more than "They're shooting at the Yellow Aces a lot".

 

I mean, this is Jim Luceno we're talking about. If Janson was dead, he would include it in The Unifying Force.

 

Besides, Janson is smart enough not to make some dumb rookie mistake and get swallowed by a void.

He's alive, he's very much alive.

 

He's alive until he dies.

You could have a Light and Dark side ending to TUF, like KOTOR and other games: different sides winning.

Janson is such a fan fav you would think they would say if he was dead. We don't get to see a lot of characters at the end of TUF, so I don't think we can just assume Wes to be dead just yet.

 

Maybe this is Wes's practical joke on us all.

 

We saw how bad Wedge was in IR when he thought Wes was dead, you would think that if he died that they would mention something connected to Wedge in that respect.

 

I doubt he's dead. If they suspect he is, it's just a practical joke.

 

Of COURSE he's alive!!

 

Dead? Now where would you get a silly idea like that?

As other people have mentioned, there would be a noticeable effect on Wedge. Plus, he's a sufficiently popular character that his death would be specifically mentioned.

And no one in their right mind would kill off a top comic relief character. The eigth Wheel of Time book showed us what happens when you try to do anything of length without the comic relief guy.

 

Wes dead?! The devil you say!

Can he get shot down? Yes, we've seen that happen a few times. Had to take a dunking in a bacta tank? Yes, that too. But I daresay Stackpole and Allston have made too popular a character to simply kill 'offscreen'.

One of my gripes about TUF's end was that you didnt see tha Fab Four gathering together 'one last time'.

 

And Ton Phanan didn't make his triumphant return from the grave.

 

Janson dead! you sicko...

Actually, I believe Hobbie was the one presumed dead on Hoth.
