Hi everyone... sorry for my bad English.. I'm from Brazil.. xD I was just thinking. I don't know if Sev'rance Tann is considered canon, but... Why not see other chiss that use the Force? Why not Chiss being Jedi, or, even better (at least I think it's better): some kind'a Chiss Knights now that we already have Jedi Knights, Sith Lords and Imperial Knights? I would love to see a book about the Chiss (and the chiss Force users) without having Luke & Cia. around. Some story about their problems in the Unknown Regions (without the **** Killiks). What do you think? M'Y
Yeah Sev'rance Taan is canon, but it's because we have next to nothing set in the Chiss part of the galaxy that we don't see more. There probably are Force Sensitive Chiss, but we just don't get to see them 'on screen' EDIT: There is an image displaying the Jedi Council with a Chiss Jedi present. No idea where to find the pic though, and don't know the Chiss' name
There's no reason to assume that there would be any chiss Jedi, they haven't been around long enough to be trained for one thing. Except for the odd odd or two who have left the unknown regions and been found by the Jedi.
I have always loved the idea of a Chiss Jedi. They would look so creepy and with their logic I think they would make some of the most level head of Knights.
As neat as it could potentially be, Outbound Flight has Thrawn having no knowledge of anything like the Force of Force-users. One assumes that, even if they haven't come into contact with the Jedi or Sith, those that can touch the Force naturally would have developed some kind of tradition amongst themselves or become individually famous as magicians, healers, etc. This opens several possibilities: 1) The Chiss are not Force-sensitive (Severance Tann was a stupid idea, anyway) 2)Belief in the supernatural does not seem to fit into the Chiss mold of thinking. Force-sensitives may have been viewed as lunatics or fools and somehow removed from Chiss society. 3) Thrawn was lying.
How many force sensitives will one planet produce in a hundred year stretch? - how many of those will notice anything other than being extremely lucky? How many of those will develop extensive force powers? It's not that unlikely that one isolated planets population don't know about the force.
Sev'rance Tann is canon, yes. There's also a Chiss shown in one frame among the Sith Lords at the Battle of Ruusan (1,000 years before ANH) in the Jedi vs. Sith comic - riding a speeder bike in an attack on the Jedi. And, as someone said, the General Grievous comic shows a Chiss on the Jedi Council, shortly before the end of the Clone Wars - who must, from his position there, be a Jedi Master... On the other hand... I know some people would like to explain the Chiss on the Jedi Council as a memmber of another species, because they thing that it's too high a profile for a Chiss before Thrawn... And there's a scene in Outbound Flight where the Corellian and Chiss characters are talking (chapter 15, page 246). Car'das mentions to Thrass that Jedi meditate disputes in the Republic; Thrass asks "Jedi?", and Thrawn explains: "A class of beings unknown to us." However, as someone pointed out in a recent thread, Thrawn could actually be subtly warning his brother not to say what the Chiss do know about the Jedi.... Additionally, there's a Chiss colony on the Sith garrison world of Thule, who're obviously in contact with Force-users. - The Imperial Ewok
Do Chiss have the ability to be jedi? Yes. However, they are not part of the republic, and so the Jedi never had access to test and train them. Severance was a dark jedi, and dark jedi aren't bound by the Republic borders. Neither are Sith. Also, the Chiss don't believe in esoteric practices, so wouldn't have pursued their own force powers.
Sev'Rance Tann... the Chiss with a lightsaber. Just one more reason why the Separatists were way ahead of the game.
I would be surprised - positively - if we would see even one Chiss Imperial Knight... I would not be just surprised, but amazed if we would see even one Imperial Knight that is not human or near-human, like the Chiss. Perhaps the Chiss just have a less than average number of Force sensitives and the Chiss may well deal with the Force sensitives they find out in some way that removes them from the main society. There should be some occasional Dark Jedi like Tann, so perhaps they shun the Force sensitives because they have only bad experiences of them? (Especially if they have memory of encounters with the Sith that led to the establishment of that Chiss colony on Thule.)
So was Sev'rance trained as a padawan and defected to the Seperatist or was she just "found" already knowing her Force powers?
My Jaden Korr (or as I like to call him Jaden'Korr'athis) was a Chiss in Jedi Academy... does that count?
To further complicate the issue. In Domain of Evil there's a Near human race called the Talaron that has blue skin and red eyes. ;-)
Maybe not Chiss Jedi....but I'd be surprised if some Chiss Force-talents don't show up through their history and manifest their abilities in other ways.... A Chiss Sorcerer of Tund....possibly... A Chiss Ang-Ti...perhaps... A Chiss witch...probable...
