What did Luke do with the remains of his Aunt and Uncle? One assumes they were buried in some fashion, but Luke certianly didn't have time to arrange for a proper funeral. He wouldn't have had two coffins laying around on the farm, so what did he put their bodies in? Did he simply take the two people who raised him, stick them in a sack, and throw them in a hole behind the tool shed (next to Grandma, and Great Uncle Cliegg)? Rather cold, don't you think? Did he at least mark their graves? And if he did, how was he able to determine which skeleton was which? Is there anything in the literature about this?
Thirty-five years later when Rey comes along, the bodies are still just lying there. She buries the lightsabers in the ground, but not the bodies.
We never find out, unless it's mentioned in some non-canon EU source. It's not in the novel either. I also find it to be extremely cold and disrespectful if Luke had left the bodies of the two people who raised him just lying around in the open. My guess is cremation would have made most sense, especially since Luke seemed to be eager to get back to Ben and Mos Eisley. Not just on Tatooine but in large parts of our world as well. As far as I know in China and Spain, just two of the countries I have been living in, cremation is even the law. In other parts of Western Europe it may not be obligatory but seems to be standard nowadays anyway. All in my grandparents' generation were cremated. My parents and I myself have the same intent.
Something like that. It’s weird that Luke is sadder about crazy Ben he only just met dying, but not about his foster parents.
There's an implication that Luke's met Ben before, since he recognises him on sight. The fact that Luke saw Ben die, whereas with Owen and Beru he only saw their bodies afterward, may be a contributing factor.
My headcanon is that Owen and Beru are still alive. They took the opportunity to run away from the unloved Junior Vader and burned some poor Tuskens to fake their death when they heard that Stormtroopers were coming. The poor Stormtroopers had no idea what happened there.
Okay, serious answer...Wookieepedia says that Luke buries them in Legends. No mention of what happens to them in canon though. Strangely enough, the canon page for Beru Whitesun Lars also mentions that she's still conscious in the afterlife after dying....
Property of the Empire by eminent domain, seized and confiscated as punishment for resisting arrest. TROOPS set up the whole thing.
Was Tatooine under the control of the Empire ? I guess it was but then what did the Hutts have to say about that?
The Lars homestead is now the property of? Similarly, Obi-Wan's dwelling now belongs to? Wonder if Luke is sending R2 round in the X-Wing to do some maintenance on both on a regular basis? It could account for where R2 went to after dropping Grogu off. Airbnb probably not the thing on Tatooine, although seeing the passenger ships in BoBF, it could be a place on rise for tourists!!
they turned into lightsabers, so Rey buried them at the end of TROS that was the easter egg plot twist Abrams threw in there.
