*Sigh* This is a little embarassing to ask but which books does Kyle appear in? I've searched for like 15 minutes now all over the web and I can't find anything that I recognize. He is about the only character I have not read about and I would really like to read about him. Thanks. [face_plain]

    In his own books...

Dark Forces : Soldier for the Empire
    Dark Forces : Rebel Agent
    Dark Forces : Jedi Knight

Those are (IIRC) illustrated novels from Dark Horse. They may be hard to find now, but I'm not sure about that.

Unfortunately, that's his only written appearances. (And they mostly retell the events of the games.)

    Alright thanks PX :)

You think Amazon would have them or would I need to find them on Ebay?

Dunno... Check Amazon, then Things from Another World (TFAW.com), and if you can't get them from there, I guess eBay.

EDIT : Well, apparently you can get them from Amazon... Although it may not ship immediately.

I found all three of them at my local library. I've seen at least two of them at a collectables store, but the prices were really high since the store only had them in hardcover.

They're definately worth reading though. I'm almost done Rebel Agent, and it's really good. Soldier for the Empire is really good too. Haven't read Jedi Knight yet, but I'm sure it'll follow the pattern of the other books.

Though, I will let you know that there are some stuff that didn't make it into the audio drama that the novel has, as well as stuff the audios have that the novels don't have.

So to get the whole story you have to listen and read both.

    >>much better than reading the comic. <<

keep in mind, the Dark Forces books aren't really comics- they are like normal books, just with a full-page painting for illustration every chapter or so. I believe the correct term is "graphic novella".

Also recommended is Jedi Vs. Sith comic series since it is a tie-in to an important story that was originally created in jedi knight, and then expanded on in the dark forces novels, as well as a tie-in to something mentioned in TPM novel.

Oh alright cool...well I found everything I needed at Amazon. There is one minor problem though. I don't really have the cash to buy both the audio and the novels. So which one do you guys think I should get?

Thanks Val for the extra reading comic, I can prolly go get that right now. :)

I'd go audio drama first and get the novel later, since a full-cast adventure good for some quick-listening. I thinky they make a all in one collection on cd, so that would be your best route I think.

I hope you like the comic.

Check ebay- I just got the dark forces trilogy audio dramas on CD for only about 20 bucks a few days ago (not bad for a 6 CD set), and theres still a few of them up for auction so try there first, might save you some cash on the audio dramas...use that extra cash to get the real books ::)

Jedi vs. Sith started out strong but fell fast. It shouldn't have been five issues long. Still, I'd get it just for being a comic. We don't have very many comic readers here, or at least not that many comic-based discussions.

And of course Jedi vs. Sith and the short story Bane of the Sith screw each other over. :p

Oooh great...thats nice since the only short story Ive ever read is Bane of the Sith. [face_plain] Oh well I guess I'll buy it just to see how they contradict each other. Then I can start a continuity thread! ;) Thanks for all your help guys.

After the survey I did back in May and early June, I'd say a little of both, Wedge. I was a little shocked at how quickly I was able to tally the questions concerning the comics on that one. It seemed at one time we used to have more threads dealing with the comics, but of late there have been fewer and fewer. We need to do something about that.

I'd recomend getting the books first, then the audio dramas.

Jedi vs. Sith - as a standalone, I haven't read BotS yet - was IMO excellent, with a very good characterization.

Well, pretty much jedi vs. sith tells the events that were explained by tal in Jedi Knight novel. You don't actually get to see tal in the comic(note just because you don't see tal doesn't mean it's a contradiction). If you think that the story was weak in Jedi vs. Sith, then most likely won't like the events told first person in the dark forces novels.

Secondly, at the end Bane heads off with Rain. Of course from TPM novel we learn that bane's apprentice was a male. So he offed her somehow. Which is why you don't see her in Bane of the sith. So in reality it is not really a contradiction. Though there was no need to create her from scratch, imho.

Lastly, only those who were jedi or strong in the force were sucked into the thought bomb(a force power that originated in the dark forces novels). So the comic didn't contradict that either. In that only a few republic soldiers, and darovit survived. But according to the story, "all" jedi and sith were sucked into the thought bomb, or killed by it(something supported by the Dark Forces novels, ec, and secrets of the sith.)

Bane and rain survived the bomb because they were enough distance away from the blast according to the story, to fight the effects of the bomb.

No one knew that bane or rain escaped at that point in time, except tomcat, and he obviously didn't tell anyone. Later on people found out about bane, but didn't know about rain. And still others learned about bane's male apprentice, the one that passed on the sith knowledge to the next generation of sith after bane.

Reading the relevent portions of DF:JK, Bane of the Sith and TPM novellization regarding the Battle of Ruusan and the rise of Bane is like reading three completely different and unrelated events. [face_plain]

Different events, but related in that they are tied to Darth Bane. But they do take some mental work to figure out how they all fit together.

On a similer note, Bane of the Sith's story originated in secrets of the sith guide. As I recall it didn't mention rain as being around either.
