what came first jedi outcast or academy?

witch one of those games come first in the series?im thinking of getting the game for the xbox but i want to play the games in order.

He's not kidding, he's putting them in canonical chronological order.

You were trying to put them in order of retail release, and you were still wrong.

Chronologically and game release dates are the same.

Dark Forces - Kyle Katarn's first major mission. He wasn't considered a jedi at this time, though he knew his Force connection was there.

Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II - Katarn comes back and becomes a Jedi Knight. He is charged with protecting the Valley of the Jedi, fails, ends up saving it, but feels his Jedi powers aren't good enough. He gives up his lightsaber and just works as a special operative for the New Republic.

Jedi Outcast: Jedi Knight II - Katarn finds out his prior nemesis Desann is after the Valley of the Jedi, so he returns to the Valley to recharge his Force powers, then to Yavin Four to collect his lightsaber and begins to slowly unlock his dormant abilities as a Jedi. Katarn fights Desann and saves the day again.

Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy - You are Jaden Kor, a Force sentitive student who recieved his lightsaber from a family member. He goes to Yavin Four to train to become a Jedi, and becomes Kyle Katarn's student.

So short answer, Jedi Academy comes after Jedi Outcast, because Katarn is an instructor and no longer out fighting.

Not true. Kyle never knew Dessan before JO. He went back to the Valley to recharge his force powers after Dessan kidnapped Jan. Dessan followed him and was able to take control once Kyle left.

The point is I answered the initial question correctly.

I've hated the "Valley Of The Jedi" since JKII and I still hate the idea to this day. It makes absolutely no sense and is completely contradicted by not only the OT but the PT as well. Any twit can just walk into a bright light and all of a sudden they can become some uber Force user. Ack, what a stupid idea for a story.

It is a pretty stupid idea, you're right. The Jedi vs. Sith comics explain a bit about this, but its still dumb.

Kyle gives up his lightsaber sometime after the events of Mysteries of the Sith where he fell to the Dark side and had to be Saved by Mara Jade.

It had nothing to do with the Valley of the Jedi or his powers not being good enough. He was afraid he'd fall again.

 

Jedi Outcast did ruin the whole conept of the Valley of the Jedi. There isn't supposed to be anything left there once Kyle freed them at the end of Jedi Knight.

This is correct. Don't listen to what anyone else in this thread has said; they're trying to trick you.

However, E_V neglected to mention the remainder of the series. After Jedi Outcast comes Mysteries of the Sith, in which the outcast Knight explores the history of the ancient Sith cult and is tempted by the dark side. In the final episode, Dark Forces, simultaneous internal and external conflicts between good and evil come to dramatic conclusions. I won't spoil the ending for you; I highly recommend playing the games and seeing what happens for yourself!

 

My favorite game is Dark Forces III: Obi-Wan. Sadly, I am still waiting for the PC release that I first read about back in 98.

Jedi Academy came out in September of 2003

 

Sithspit, like its predecessor sithspawn, are the only two out of three exclamations Stacky and Allston can think of in 18 assorted comics/books.
