    Hi ya'll,

I just got into EU just recently and I bought and read Dark Empire I & II. Now I know there are lots of books out there but what series picks up after EU? I'm having a blast seeing the crew in new adventures and I want to continue in the proper order without skipping anything. Any help from the generous EU Star Wars veterans would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!!

After Dark Empire II would come Empire's End, another comic TPB. It's pretty hard to find, but you might have luck at thingsfromanotherworld.com.

After Empire's End you should read the Jedi Academy Trilogy (books) by Kevin J. Anderson.

Well, you will certainly want to read Empire's End, the third story in the Dark Empire trilogy. Unlike the others which were originally each a 6-issue mini-series, Dark Empire was a 2-issue mini-series, and was essentially a epilogue or conclusion to Dark Empire II. It was originally supposed to be a 6-parter as well, but got cut down by LFL mid-process).

But, after that, you probably should check out the "prequel" series to that - the whole Tales of the Jedi super-series. This series is important for two reasons, it is directly tied to Dark Empire (it is the story covered in the Dark Empire background material at the end of the book), as well as introducing some fairly major characters which play a part in the whole "New Republic" era stories - namely Exar Kun.

The Tales of the Jedi super-series is comprised of:
Tales of the Jedi: Knights of the Old Republic
Tales of the Jedi: The Freedon Nadd Uprising
Tales of the Jedi: Dark Lords of the Sith
Tales of the Jedi: The Sith War
    Tales of the Jedi: Redemption
(And if you wish to delve into the actual history of the Sith, there's an even chronologically-earlier two-parter - Tales of the Jedi: Golden Age of the Sith and Tales of the Jedi: Fall of the Sith Empire)

After that, you're well suited to jump into the New Republic-era stories like the Jedi Academy Trilogy by Kevin Anderson, which covers Luke's creation of a new Jedi Order.

Or, you can jump into OT-era stories with Dark Horse Comics' reprintings of the original Marvel series, Classic Star Wars: Doomworld. It's the first of seven trade paperbacks which cover the important stories between ANH up through a month after ROTJ, including the formation of the precursor to the New Republic, the Alliance of Free Planets. This series introduced important characters like Lumiya (original Emperor's Hand, Shira Brie) and important events like the first extragalactic invasion of the GFFA by the Nagai and Tofs.

Or, you can jump right in with the current series, The New Jedi Order starting with Vector Prime.

Or, you can reat the books in publishing order, starting with the original EU novel, Splinter of the Minds Eye and work forward.

You really have a bunch of options.

You may want to purchase the Essential Chronology and use its bibliographical timeline to pick and choose which stories you want to check out in more detail.

    EDIT: D'oh. Yeah, I did.

    Don't you mean epilogue?

Since your new: The Thrawn Trilogy:

    Heir to the Empire
    Dark Force Rising
    The Last Command

It's set a little before DE and is very good. Some will tell you otherwise but form your own opinion. It's what I consider some of the more important EU, it is very important to the overall story. It sets up some very important charecters and places.

Yeah, Jedi_Anakin_Solo. That's why I'll pass on the whole thing. I know some will probably say I get pleasure out of doing it, but I've also found it makes die-hard fans go blind with rage.

    Trell,
    Wedge explained it all.

    You said...
    "Cemon! ...I'm waitng!!!"

Believe me, past experience here has shown that once we start in about that, the posts will start spurting out.

Yeah, you'll definately want to track down Empire's End (try ebay) to finish the Dark Empire trilogy off. Chronologically after the DE trilogy are the Jedi Academy Trilogy, or JAT for short, books ("Jedi Search", "Dark Apprentice" & "Champions of the Force") and the book "I, Jedi" (which mostly retells the JAT from a first person perspective although it does go beyond it).

One thing to consider though is a few important books take place before the Dark Empire series that you may want to read before JAT or "I, Jedi". The two major ones are the X-Wing series (which introduces a new major character who is the person "I, Jedi" 's first person perspective is told from) and what is retroactively referred to as The Thrawn Trilogy, or TTT for short, ("Heir to the Empire", "Dark Force Rising" & "The Last Command"). There's also a book inbetween those two series called "The Courtship of Princess Leia" that details how Han and Leia get married, but isn't too essential a read. There's also an X-Wing comic series that acts as a backstory to the X-Wing novels, but aren't nessasary to read to read the novels, but they are there if you want to read 'em.

There's also, as mentioned earlier, a large comic series called Tales of the Jedi, that details events mentioned briefly in Dark Empire and a character that factors into JAT, that take place some 4,000 years before the battle of yavin.

For your reference though, this is the order of the major post-Return of the Jedi novels & comics up to just after JAT...

    The Truce At Bakura
X-Wing: Rogue Squadron (comic book series)
    -The Rebel Opposition
    -The Phantom Affair
    -Battleground: Tatooine
    -The Warrior Princess
    -Requiem For A Rogue
    -In the Empire's Service
    -Blood and Honor
    -Masquerade
    -Mandatory Retirement
    Dark Forces: Rebel Agent
    Dark Forces: Jedi Knight
    X-Wing, Series 1:
    -Rogue Squadron
    -Wedge's Gamble
    -The Krytos Trap
    -The Bacta War
    X-Wing, Series 2:
    -Wraith Squadron
    -X-Wing: Iron Fist
    -X-Wing: Solo Command
    The Courtship of Princess Leia
    The Thrawn Trilogy:
    -Heir to the Empire
    -Dark Force Rising
    -The Last Command
    X-Wing, Series 3:
    -Isard's Revenge
    The Dark Empire Trilogy:
    -Dark Empire
    -Dark Empire ][
    -Empire's End
    The Crimson Empire Duology:
    -Crimson Empire
-Crimson Empire ][: Council of Blood
    The Jedi Academy Trilogy:
    -Jedi Search
    -Dark Apprentice
    -Champions of the Force
    I, Jedi

That should give ya enough to chew on for awhile[face_batting]

"Cemon" if you phonetically sound it out sounds like "seaman", which while you can have a load full of them, it sounds exactly like another word altogether.
