Oceania What do Stormtroopers wear under their armor?

I think they wear boxers. Or leggings. I mean, the armor looks pretty tight. I don't reckon they'll be able to wear thick clothing.

They wear something called a bodyglove. That's the black thing under their armour...but otherwise, they'd probably be pretty naked.

 

Yeah, it's a heat adjustable body glove.

 

I'm guessing they go, you know, commando ...

 

Aha! But there must be enough room for clothing if Luke and Han can wear theirs underneath the suits in ANH.

Though as Leia says, 'Aren't you a little short for a stormtrooper?'. This implies that Luke (if not Han) at least had some room for clothes.

On the less serious side, I'd be going for a nice spandex leotard.

Luke was "a little short for a stormtrooper" as we all know. That would imply that all other stormtoopers were bigger/taller than him, which also implies that the armour he had stolen to wear would have been to big for him. What I think Amaya/crystal is meaning, was that because the armour would have been to big, that meant that Luke could easily (and probably want too) wear his clothing underneath the armour to add more bulk.

Which, in turn, because of his smaller body inside the bigger armour plating, would make it more comfortable for him and enable him to wear the armour more firmly.

 

But then if we compare it to real-life observances, we see that Temeura Morrison is actually reasonably short, about Luke size. If we then conclude that most stormtroopers are clones of him, then in fact it is probably more a script thing, a good line, as to why Leia says that, rather than a general reflection of the stature of stormtroopers. To quote a good friend of mine: "I think we can safely say that thinking things through is not a hallmark of the star wars saga".

 

That is a big 'if' to conclude, seeing as a lot of people would not agree with you (me being one) and the obvious height differences of stormtoopers seen in the movie. (One in particular comes to mind )

Sure, it may be a script thing, but it may be true that the imperial academy (for the non-clones) required people to be a certain height to be a stormtooper. But, hey, I like your quote.
