What do you think of the titles "The Force Awakens", "The Last Jedi", and "The Rise of Skywalker"?

In my opinion, I don't like them at all. They just seem off for Star Wars titles for me.

The bar was set too high when Lucas ingeniously named Episode 1 The Phantom Menace.

    And I'm not even kidding.

I don't love or hate any of them. Maybe you should consider adding more options.

The Force Awakens elicited vague confusion from me, The Last Jedi a sense of intrigue, and The Rise of Skywalker a sense of intense excitement and "whoa that's what it is holy ****." The first two have grown on me to the extent that they feel just as much a part of the tapestry of Star Wars as the titles of the OT and PT, whereas The Rise of Skywalker probably won't reach that point until I'm so inundated with merchandise and marketing for the movie (sometime in November, probably) that I can't remember a time when I wasn't familiar with the title.

I don’t like the title for TLJ. “Last Jedi” should never be used in sequels set after Return of the Jedi.

The Force Awakens is my favorite of the titles. The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker are two great titles as well, and TROS might become more (or less) meaningful once we know what it actually means. Voted for "love all of the titles".

I don't mind that "Force" finally made it to a title, but I don't like the suggestion that the Force was asleep or the connection with Rey's sudden immediate proficiency in Jedi techniques and skills. The Last Jedi did nothing to hook me since the OT had already covered in depth a time period when the Jedi were near extinction. I guess Rise of Skywalker is the best in that it actually makes me curious to see what it means to the story, although given how the first two ST films have handled the Skywalker legacy and lineage thus far, that curiosity is tepid at best.

Overall I think it's a poor set of titles, more at home adorning the covers of middling or forgettable tie-in material than the actual ST.

I think they all sound fine as titles, but I had a different reaction to each one when they were announced.

TFA confused me. Isn't the Force always present and therefore always "awake"? It set me thinking that we were going to get a much more mystical movie than what we got. Has the Force become "silent" for some reason? It was an intriguing idea. Then I saw the movie and I left the theatre confused as to what the title was supposed to mean. It took another viewing before I realize it referred to the Force awakening in Rey.

TLJ didn't give me a good feeling despite feeling overall optimistic about that movie. I was hoping that some of Luke's students had survived Kylo Ren's massacre and this title put out that hope and gave me the feeling that Luke would die.

TROS intrigued me. TLJ left me with basically nothing to get excited about the next movie, but the title set my mind wondering. Does this mean Luke is coming back, Kylo Ren is getting redeemed, or Rey is a Skywalker after all? All three possibilities would please me. I've since set my hopes back down, but that title continues to make me wonder.

Voted for the third option. I liked the title "Force Awakens." I thought for the first film of a new trilogy it was fitting because of the concept of awakening alluded to in its title, and I was intrigued by the idea of what it might mean to have the Force Awaken in a person or multiple people. "Last Jedi" also sounds impressive and mythical to me with that hint of menace and melancholy to it as well. "Rise of Skywalker" sounds a bit cheesy or overdramatic to me, though, so I'm not a huge fan of it. Two out of three isn't bad for titles, though, and a bad title doesn't sink a movie for me by any means.

I voted love all of them. I was mildly taken aback by The Force Awakens when I first heard it. It was a momentary, "It's called what?" reaction. But I adore it now and can't imagine the title being anything else. I loved The Last Jedi from the very beginning. Perfect title for the film. I think The Rise of Skywalker sounds appropriately epic for the conclusion of the Skywalker Saga. Can't wait to learn the real meaning behind it.

I'm waiting to see how TROS turns out. For now, I like the title. Mainly because I'm hoping it means something that it probably doesn't mean. Once I find out it means what I'm afraid it means, I'll hate it. :)

The Force Awakens? Functional, fun, but not necessarily crazy good.

The Last Jedi? One sick kriffin’ title!... which is partially why I’m so disappointed that it’s attached to a movie I don’t like; at least Attack of the Clones has the kind of kitschy, cheesy nature that fits its flaws.

The Rise of Skywalker?.... Gonna have to find out what the heck it means, first.

TFA was intriguing before the movie came out, less so after. But thumbs up. The word Force needed to be in a title.
TLJ didn't like it before movie came out, really don't like it now. Jedi was already in a title, and as others said, we already went through the near extinction of the Jedi in the previous movies, there was no reason to play that card again. It would have been a better title if it turned out Luke really was the last Jedi. In hindsight it means nothing.
ROS is great prior to the movie coming out. Love seeing the name Skywalker in a title. I'm hoping it means something and isn't just a meaningless tease.

My rating of the ST movie titles:
    The Force Awakens - 8/10
    The Last Jedi - 6/10
The Rise of Skywalker - 9/10

(Just realized that this is the first SW trilogy where all the movie titles start with “The”...)

The Force Awakens - suits the film I think, sounds bright and renewed. Doesn't really gel with established force lore though, possibly.

The Last Jedi - I'm with the notion it doesn't earn the title. Also you could call ROTJ the same thing... that is a bad sign.

The Rise of Skywalker - I think it is my fave of the three, but definitely hope it has a good payoff with revealed context.

TFA: too meta, like it's referring to the return of the franchise after years of hibernation rather than events in the film. I still haven't heard any good explanation for what "Awakening" even means in-universe. It sounds cool, I guess, but doesn't make any sense.

TLJ: this one makes sense in terms of describing what the movie is about, but I don't like the story they ended up telling, so that takes wind out of its sails. Also, I don't like that they used "Jedi" so soon after ROTJ. It feels redundant when you line up the titles next to each other.

ROS: might be good, might not. Right now it feels very generic but if JJ can tell a story that ties up the saga nicely then maybe it will be great. The term "Rise" feels very played out right now in the zeitgeist, but maybe it will work.

Overall, the titles are the weakest of the three trilogies imo. TPM still the best title.

I like them all well enough. TLJ is the only that gives me chills on its own. TFA is suitable and fits the story. TROS feels like a beat off from all the other titles, but I don’t dislike it or think that is a bad thing necessarily.

Actually, as far as titles go, I’m not too keen on any of the titles of all the trilogies except for ESB, TPM,and TLJ which are think the best of their respective trilogies.

They are all fine to me on their own, but when taken as a whole it feels a bit off due to every movie starting with "The ...". The other trilogies had more variety regarding that matter.

Not to mention the ludicrous title The Empire Strikes Back.

It's a wonder he didn't use an exclamation point!

As for the new titles themselves they are fine. Not as pulpy as I'd having wanted them.

Yes as Lucas went with "A" and only used "The" once per trilogy.
