The Royal Guards use force pikes as their primary weapons. I was wondering what exactly a force pike does. Does it shok its vicim. Do you just stab it at someone?

I think it's an ordinary pike, except the tip vibrates like a vibroblade. Could be mistaken, though.

I think, like you said, it releases a jolt that shocks the person. It has different power levels too, I think anyway.

    Tyrantus is correct.

And the "stun" aspect of it can be turned off with a button, if required.

It shoots force boats at villains.

Seriously, it's like a spear with a v. sharp tip and a stun field surrounding it.

I believe Royal Guards' forcepikes do more than stun. They were killing with them in that attrocious comic, Betrayal.

Carrie was almost blocking Irek's saber blows with them; and other comics have show their discharge blades mildly saber resistent for a few blows.

What was the behavior of forcepikes in Crimson Empire (are they lightsaber resistant?)

your generic force pike doesn't have that resistance to lightsabers, my guess is that if the force pikes are being handled by people who use the Force, and they're shown to block sabers to an extent, then they're either a bit cortosisy, or the wielder imbued them

Supposed to be like a cattle prog, but they can set their weapons to kill.

Crimson Empire, they use double bladed staff sword, which the blades can retract back into the handle.

With a lightsaber sound effect in the audio drama, for whatever reason. I heard it before I read it, so I was confused as hell for awhile.

the force pike does a similar retracting thing. it can be easily concealed in comparison to an actual pike

Jabba's Weequay guards were fond of force pikes too. Some tried to make Luke walk the plank under force (no pun intended) of force pike in RotJ.

Weequay skiff guard, Pote Snitkin and Lando skiff guard action figures each come with a force pike!
    The Gamorreans use vibro-axes.

however, TOS databank calls Lando's, Barada's and Pote's weapons vibro-axes, while the Gamorreans use a more primitive version.
