What does "Fur Elise" mean?

You know that Beethoven song "Fur Elise" wit the piano solo opening? What the hell does Fur Elise mean?

 

It means "For Elise." I believe Elise was a nickname Beethoven gave to Therese Malfatti, whom Beethoven proposed to. At least, that's what my piece of the music says

 

I've wondered the same thing, and I'd guess For Elise.

I believe that Elise was a piano student of his.

He wrote her and one other of his students (named Greta, I THINK) a song apiece.

Elise's got famous. The other's didn't.
