What does the medical droid say!???

When padme gives birth to Luke and Leia the medical droid/midwife says something to obi-wan. I believe she asks him "is it a boy or girl?" to which Obi relpies "its a girl" when he holds leia. He doesnt answer when he is asked this question about Luke- padme just blurts out "Luke"!!

Just to settle an ongoing argument i am having - does the medical droid say what i think or is it just alien talk?!!!


can anyone settle this conflict... (or bash away if you must!)



Edit: I also wondered why mace cries when he has his arm cut off and dooku remains silent when he loses both his hands. Is mace soft? Or is the count a big brave boy?

 

I believe that the droid does say "is it a boy or girl". You are right!

i noticed that about mace and dooku aswell. and i think the medical droid is talking an alien language

 

It's alien language..but it does sound a bit like "Is it a boy or girl".We'll have to put this one alongside the "That guy's wise" Ewok!

 

The question about Mace and Dooku...

Anakin smoothly cuts off dooku's hands...
It wasnt a blunt shot. It was like a sharp hot knife cutting through butter....

While mace's hands was chopped off with a BLUNT HARD shot from anakin...

That could explain why mace screamed while Dooku fell in shock..


Just like when Vader cut off Luke's hand. It was a hard blunt shot... That's why Luke Screams...

 

The droid says "Holy mother! Ive never seen such a horrific bab.....I mean.....it's a Boy"

Maybe that isn't very important, but, what i don´t understand is this:
Luke and Leia are just the same time with Padme(more or less) before she dies,
and then, in the Return of the jedi, Luke asks Leia if she remembers her mother,¿and she answers thgat she does! I don´t understand pretty well why.

 

It sounded Latin-based to me, something about "humana femina*" or something like that. I believe she wasn't asking a question, just identifying the sex of the children to Obi-Wan. I still thought that whole scene was kind of bizzare, personally. Padme just shot those kids out without much of a struggle and the droid caught them in its Jai-alai mitt. It just seemed weird to me, that's all.

*I know this isn't real Latin, but it's Latinate, for you purists out there.

 

Yes, Mace is a wuss. So much for being the BMF in the galaxy.

 

This has been brought up before. I've got a couple theories:

1) Leia is Force sensitive, so while she may not have any solid memories of her mother, she may still feel the remnants of her presence. Leia, not knowing much about the Force, identifies these feelings as memories.

2) They may be memories her mind invented to fill in the blanks. There's a psycho-analytical word for this, I'm sure, but I'm no Freud.

Well, I think because both of them are the son of Anakin, both of them are inherently strong in the Force. While Luke chooses to develop and become stonger in his use of the Force, Leia chooses to let it remain a passive guide. Because the Force is acting through Leia invoulentarily (contrary to Luke) it allows her to see the past in short, quick glimpses. (Much like Anakin sees the future in the PT)

I think the 'O' and 'A' in the two mean Boy and Girl, so I believe the Medical Droid knew what the gender was, and Obi was telling Padm'e what it was.
