According to Wookieepedia, Palpatine is followed by 6 advisors when he disembarks from his shuttle in ROTJ. 3 have been named (Sim Aloo, Janus Greejatus, Kren Blista Vanee) two haven't been named but have pics ("black robe" and "tall hat") - but what's the sixth supposed to look like?

There's only five in this pic:

And they're all in this publicity photo:

I'm guessing that the "one of six advisors who accompanied Palpatine on his journey to the incomplete second Death Star in the Endor system" line and its variations that appears on all but the first of those Wookieepedia links is from some old-school EU source that didn't bother checking the film 100% (maybe the ROTJ novelisation or a West End Games sourcebook). It's either that, or this moron managed to flush half his leg down a toilet when the shuttle arrived at DSII:

The ROTJ novelization didn't say how many there were with him. Haven't got the junior novelization so can't check it.

Might have been from West End Games or the like, which could have found its way into other publications.
WE Games was very much the source for such details in the early days, and in all fairness, I don't know just how much source material they were provided with in 'The Dark Years' between the OT era winding down and the SW franchise starting up again in 1991. Neither of those pics above were from the actual film of ROTJ itself.

And before that, there was the Poster Monthly series (Star Wars Poster Monthly, TESB Poster Monthly, ROTJ Poster Monthly) - and the Guide to the Star Wars Universe book.

And therein lies the problem - such publications were made before the 'Expanded Universe' had become the gigantic beast it is now, without the attention paid to it by Lucasfilm upon continuity, but they were written, published, branded 'official', and many are still in circulation (don't underestimate how many fans probably still use libraries for a SW fix), despite being rendered utterly redundant, or perhaps delivering red herrings in areas yet to be addressed completely by the current continuity.

Nice. Can we get a close up so we can identify roughly what the third unnamed one looks like?

I'm not aware of any close-ups, but if I find one I'll post it asap.

And maybe somebody with Wookieepedia article-creating privileges could post a "Sixth Advisor" article :)

After finding a larger version of that same pic - I noticed that there's what looks like a shoulder, and the edge of a robe in a different shade, sticking out from behind Kren Blista-Vanee.

Well spotted. Odd that there's only five in the publicity pic.

The Sixth Dignitary- here's what he looks like! :)

Here's the other 3 ROTJ casting/continuity Polaroids showing the other 2 unnamed Dignitaries and Sim Aloo. I don't have one's for Greejatus or Blista-Vanee, unfortunately.

Of note is that the costume of the so-called red-hatted Advisor actually appears to be a different color than is shown in the famous 5-Dignitaries picture, an image that is often seen in many different color/saturation/etc filters. The "wook" article ought to be adjusted, and ideally these images will be added to the appropriate character articles, along with an article finally being created for The Sixth Dignitary.

Huh, I always thought Sate Pestage was one of the advisors with Palpatine on board the Death Star. No?

Canonically, he actually was present aboard the Death Star II, though returned to Coruscant by the time the Battle had begun. Star Wars: The Official Starships and Vehicles Collection #22 explicitly confirms this. It states that he visited Palpatine there, meaning that he was not among the 6 Advisors/Dignitaries/Ruling Councilors/etc who accompanied him on the shuttle.

In addition to Pestage's brief visit, other extremely high-ranked Imperials were also present, offscreen. Grand Admirals Takel, Declann, and Teshik were on the DSII, and the ROTJ novelization (still canon on the terrible, post-apocalyptic DisnEU) clearly mentions that women were also among the various elements of the Imperial Court present.

It is rather amazing that half of the 6 Dignitaries were never given backgrounds or even names in the 30 years the were part of the EU beyond all of them being among the most powerful people in the Empire as Ruling Councilors.

SheaHublin - outstanding! Where'd you get the pics from?

(Feel free to post them again in the stickied 'Pics' thread at the top of this forum, BTW, this thread might eventually get bumped)

Feel free to post them for me :)

As for the images themselves, there's several fans who've been researching the Dignitaries and their actors for many years now, myself among them. There's something compelling about them. A friend who has done tremendously excellent research into them as well passed them along to me.

Nice. It would be great if the newcanon actually gave those 3 names and backgrounds - maybe someone like Luceno will reference them?

Interesting thread, I've always been curious about
these characters. I hope to see them in Rebels, or other upcoming media.

The research continues :) Besides Anthony Lang (Sim Aloo) and Francis Batsoni (tall-hat) and Tommy Graham (Kren Blista-Vanee) somebody knowledgeable about the matter (much more so than I) indicated that the actor who portrayed Janus Greejatus is one Michael Josephs, who can be seen as the German shopkeeper in Force 10 From Navarone and as the U-Boat Captain in Eye of the Needle. Apparently he's also an extra in a few Dr. Who episodes. Shame his name is so common and difficult to search for, because he's likely the only Dignitary still alive...

Btw, the recent Star Wars Costumes book has a few images of the Dignitaries, and a very high resolution images of the Sim Aloo costume, which still exists. One gets the impression that the other costumes still exist too, along with many more images from the Lucas vaults of the Dignitaries...

It was Nicholas Cage - he wanted to get Vader's autograph.
