What happend to the "Star" in Star Wars...?

This is my theory about OT v NT. They are differnt but still the same. People have been saying the the NT isn't as good as good as the OT.

MY opinion, i like OT more than NT. Don'
t get me wrong. NT is far better that any other movie i have sceen but i think i know what is missing in the NT

The effect of space isn't there as much. I mean yeah they have it in there but mostly it is about the planets. We see in the OT that the space battels are far more in depth and longer.

I can see the need for less space scenes as well. The NT is explaing all the "political" happenings and then OT is kinda the effect of NT. (well duh)

That is underlining fact why people arnt so much into NT as much as OT. But i could be wrong. Lets look at it 20 years from now and i bet that our opinions will change.

That is what bothers me about the NT. The space battle in TPM sucked 'cause you only see about two minutes of it and none of it is ships blowing up other ships, and AOTC didnt even have one. Unless you want to call that fight with Obi and Jango a battle.

 

It does kind of seem like the adventures of Anakin, etc. in the PT is like a James Bond adventure or an Indiana Jones adventure, where he's just visiting different countries on the same planet.

 

Hopefully they'll be an epic Clone War space battle in Episode III.

My dad asked where the "Wars" in Star Wars Episode II were. So I had to fast forward to the last half hour to show him.

 

i would like to see more space sceens with stars in the back, kinda like some good ol MF footage

 

ok so lets take a look at this. OT has longer space scenes, more ship to ship, stars in the background, and oh yes the DEATH STAR!!!!!

Why arent there more space scenes in the NT?? heres a few reasons.

1: THE DEATH STAR!! Of course everything will be in space when the thing youre fighting against is IN space!! Other battles are all based on land. Yes PTM had the federation control ship in space that they fought BUT what was it effecting? the droids on the ground. We dont have a space threat in the NT, we have land/planet threats.

2: Honestly do we really expect george lucas to do the same thing over and over? Why not just create a prequel death star, and have ship to ship battles, and maybe even han solos dad or something that flys the falcon!! My point exactly, the same things repeated arent good writing. (i mean look at AI)

3: what was the trade off. we have less star battles in the NT TO THIS POINT, but what did we get in return?? LIGHT SABERS LIGHT SABERS LIGHTSABERS!!!! whats the one thing people complained about that the OT didnt have enough of??? the lazer sword my brothers!!! and that is that.

 

well jawa, point taken, but in fact the title does still say star wars. Not battle of the planets. We want to see space battels and crazy junk like that.

But i agree, lazer swords are the best.

 

oh and if im not mistaken somone once said star wars was a 12 hour epic movie, not 6 single ones. (OH YEAH George Lucas said that!!!) so folks space battles are in the movie, when you look at it like GL does, as one 12 hr saga. HAH SUKKAS!

 

Lightsabers will dominate the PT while space battles dominate the OT. I prefer lightsaber battles personally, but space battles are cool too.

But will it really? We've had an equal amount of each in the films so far:
1 saber battle & 1 one space battle in TPM & ANH.

1 Asteroid field chase & 1 Climactic saber battle in AOTC & TESB.

The only difference is that saber fight in TPM was bigger then ANHs, and ANHs space battle were bigger than TPMs. But thats probably because GL knew that he would have a large spacebattle in Episode III so he did'nt want to spoil us with it so soon in the story, with ANH he did'nt know if there would be any more Star Wars films so pulled out all the stops for that one.

So far I'd say the PT has seen just about the equal amount of space and stars as the OT, more or less.

 

My theory is that the OT was ground battles, and the main battle was on the ground, but as they became more advanced they found that space was the main fronteer.

 

the saber battles are not even close to the same as someone stated before. you mention that length is the only difference? hmmm i think not. the battle in TPM was by far the best saber battle of the movies at its time. just like the longer space battle has been a lot sweeter in ANH. the saber battles dont compare, just like the space battles havent compared really. theres a reason for that me thinks.

 

I've noticed a formula in the battles of Star Wars.

Episode 1&6 - Ground & Space Battle

Episode 2&5 - Ground Battle

Episode (3)&4 - Space BAttle

It works from the beggining and end, inward. The beggining and end have both, forward from the beggining and backward from the end have ground battles, and the last two middle episodes have space battles.

So, Episode 3 is going to feature the best space battle of the saga, but no ground battle.

 

Look at it this way - more space battles in the OT give us something to look forward to while watching them in order.

We get to see the flash lightsabre contests first, then the big starship battles as the Empire rises into power.

 

The Star in Star Wars turned into a Super Nova and Blew up.


I would also like to see more space battles.

 

And where's ''Star'' or ''Trek'' in Star Trek? Most of the times you see endless dialogue spoken by actors in jumpsuits standing in a futuristic set.

 

True there is no space sceen, but it is the essance of space, The whole movie is in space, or show. (in a sense) In ANH the death star is in space and so is the falcon. That is what is ment by the star in star wars
