Not that I like them, but I am just curious.
What happened to the Gungans? They are not mentioned in any book. But the planet Naboo exists on the Dark Tide galaxy chart? So what happened?

Still alive as of 6 aby, according to galactic phrase book and travel guide. One assumes they still were alive after that. They started spreading out colonies on naboo's moon shortly after battle of naboo though, may have spread further than that.

Lucas doesn't like EU authors writing about prequel stuff so the Gungans have been ignored. They are presumably still around. I, for one, am not complaining about the lack of Gungan influence in the NJO.

There were Dugs and "Nubian Wood" mentioned in the NJO, why not Gungans?

    Not that I mind...

I seem to be in the minority. I actually like Gungans. I don't like some of the ridiculousness that GL subject JJ to in TPM, but on the whole I did like Jar Jar, and I liked the species in general. And I *really* liked DW's use of them in The Monster. Good stuff. I wanna see the Gungan Grand Army against a Vong army.

The Gungans are okay, but they're definitely not the best.

I also like Gungans. I always thought that they were territorial and stayed at home, which was why they weren't in EU.

I don't hate them fully, but I don't like them either. There are some good gungans, like captain Tarpalas (or somethin like that), but Jar-Jar!!!!!!!
You know what? I woul tie his legs to one SSD's aft hull, his arms on the other SSD's aft hull, and send them into hyperspace in opposite directions!! [face_devil]

You think you could actually get two SSDs tha close to each other? Especially the sides with the huge frickin' engines blasting?

I guess Palpatine thought they were annoying... :p

And actually, me liken da Gungan. In fact, I like Jar Jar a lot. I laugh each time he's being clumsy. I sometimes even wonder what people have against him.

    >>>There were Dugs and "Nubian Wood"<<<

Funnily enough Nubian has nothing to do with Naboo in the NJO. If you look at the maps post SBS you see Nubia is a planet in the Corellian sector.

Um, if they talk about "Nubian wood" and there's a planet called Nubia, then these people would be called Nubians, right? So, uh...when they say "Nubian wood," are they saying what I THINK they're saying?? :D

Nubia usually has nothing to do with Naboo, Nubia is a seperate planet in the Corellian Sector I do believe, and unless Im mistaken its the moon to either Corellia or another major planet in that sector.

Hopefully, Palpatine sent his lacky Jar-Jar and his fellow Gungans on a reconnaisance mission.

    Into the Maw.

You don't think Palpatine or Vader would actually waste energy trying to find the right path, when there's thousands of Gungans they can use to test paths instead?

Either that or the Vong snatched 'em up to use. That would explain the warrior that tripped on a hole in the ground a few books back.

The Gungans aren't that annoying- just Jar Jar's voice.

They're alive just after ANH in SW Galaxies as well. Personally, I think the Gungans just didn't get a chance to expand much beyond Naboo's system, and halted their expansion efforts due to the Clone Wars and were later repressed by the Empire (hence the presence of Imperial walkers on Naboo in SWG).
