Hey, after Obi gets captured on Geonosis, what happens to his Delta-7 and R4? Did he get them back later? Were they destroyed?

Well you have to assume that it is either still there even nearly 50 years later (based on NJO time).

Or after the battle, it was recovered.

If we see it in Episode III, then we will have to assume it was recovered.

    It was left on Geonosis.

It was probably recovered after the battle was over, when vehicles and craft were salvaged and the dead collected.

    Haha! Funny!

What happens to ANY of the Jedi Starfighter designs? Did they just lose all records of how to build them or something?

I'll bet it's stashed in the basement of his Tatooine hut during the original trilogy.

EDIT: Original trilogy, not prequel. :p

Destroyed. I believe the novelization states that the transmission suddenly ended as the destroyer droids were capturing Obi-Wan and it was determined that the reason for the termination was that the fighter had been destroyed.

Destroyed. Obi-wan's transmission was cut off because destroyer and/or battle/super battle droids had found the ship, found it to have been an alien lifeform, and vaped it.

Some cowardly Geonosian probably stole it and fled the planet before the battle began.

My guess is that Geonosian authorities impounded it. I doubt they destroyed it at once, since they would probably want to check out its technology and stuff. When Geonosis was occupied by the Republic, I guess it was returned to Coruscant.

I don't think much of the wreckage from the battles of the clone wars was reclaimed or scraped. At least at Geonosis some of it was left to rust on the surface, if you take Wedge's mission to Geonosis in Rebel Strike into account.

The last scene of Episode III will be Obi-Wan and R4 walking and rolling into the Tattooine desert.

The audio commentary on the DVD explained what had happened to the starfighter and R4.

The ship and droid were found by Geonosian worker drones, who proceeded to wreck the ship (with rocks, I guess) While they were wrecking the ship, they also "tortured" and damaged R4. R4 was supposed to appear in the arena, chained to the fourth post next to Padme. One of the monsters would then crawl out into the arena and smash R4 for good.

These scenes were considered too violent and gruesome, so they were never completed. It seems that Lucasfilm forgot to remove the fourth pillar in the arena, so now we have an empty pillar in the final cut of the move.

That weird frame thingy that he left in orbit-was that a hyperdrive thing?

Yes, that ring thing that detached from Obi-wan's starfighter as he arrived above Geonosis was a hyperdrive. The Jedi starfighters had no hyperdrive, so technicians developed the Hyperspace Booster Ring, which gives the ship a class 1 hyperdrive with no detriment to fighting ability or weight. Pretty ingenious. However, if you lose the ring, or its destroyed, you're stranded until you're air runs out (in which case you die) or until someone rescues you (which could be never). So, just use an X-wing ;).

According to an article in Insider several issues, back there are different versions of Jedi Starfighters. The most commonly built ones require a hyperdrive ring. Though there is one experimental variety with internal hyperdrive, as seen in Jedi Starfighter. As well as a version that can transform into a fight mode, loaded with weapons.

Here is the picture of Fight Mode if your curious.

The design has shown up on a Jedi Starfighter Obi-Wan flew in a pre-aotc story, "Full of Surprises", a dark horse comic.

What happens to ANY of the Jedi Starfighter designs? Did they just lose all records of how to build them or something?

    Toy-based speculation:
Palpatine certainly retained records of the Jedi Starfighter. He turned these records over to his top designers who took into account the Empire's rather unique views about pilot comfort and expendibility and developed the smaller, lighter, more streamlined Cruisemissile Trooper, which went on to become a staple of the Imperial Navy.

Actually- wasn't it said that the JSFs all have a limited range hyperdrive, but need the rings for longer range travel?

Whoa, you mean that the fight mode thing isnt just a stupid Kenner idea? Oh, and I dont think that "Full of Suprises" is canon, Val.

"Oh, and I dont think that "Full of Suprises" is canon, Val."

It has the rise of the empire era continuity icon on it actually, rather than the infinities non-continuity icon, so ya LFL marked it as part of the official continuity.

It even refrenced an obscure planet from West End Games, Cracken's Rebel Operatives sourcebook, "Albecus". So the author, Jason Hall, did his research.

Well, anyone notice the design similarities between the Jedi FIghter and the A-Wing?

Like the A-Wing could be a rounded out version of the Jedi Fighter.
