What if Star Wars was 'R' Rated.....

If the Star Wars Saga were remade, or altered, to be 'R' Rated would it be as successful?

What changes would you like to see to the films in an
R Rated version that could push it to that next level?

The Obivous:
- More Blood caused by blaster fire
- More cursing especially by Han Solo, Lando and Jabba...who should talk like that anyway.

By Film:
A New Hope:
- A Sexier Princess Leia
- More violent and accurate Stormtroopers
- More graphic Rebel Deaths
- A seedier Cantina
- Seeing the Stormtroopers slaughter Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru

Empire:
- This film would benefit the most from an R Rating. Already dark as a PG film this movie could show the pure evil of Darth Vader.
- The fight on Hoth would be far more graphic
- A sex scene by Han and Leia either on cloud city before they are captured, or in the asteroid field. I am leaning toward cloud city.
- Luke gets more of a butt whoopin by Vader...far more violent and bloody.
- IMAGINE the torture of Han and how good that could be if R Rated.

Jedi:
- Seedier Jabba's Palace
- More Gruesome deaths by the Rancor
- IMAGINE Princess Leias costume in Jabba's Palace (or lack thereof)...oooooh my
- The battle over the Death Star would be FANTASTIC
- Remove Ewoks and have little evil buggers who can tear people to shreds...or...bring back the original ideas of Wookies and have them tear out arms of people.
- The Emperor would ROCK even moreso. Imagine what he does to Luke.

Though it would lose an audience, I would pay good money to see an R Rated version of the original trilogy.

And lets not even talk about the Prequel Triolgy. How hot would Natalie Portman look if given the right...and more revealing...costumes.

It would definatly be interesting and I'd watch it but, I'd want it done as a film Infinities.

 

You would be able to see a Ewoks privates.

If it was an "R", I probably wouldent have seen it when I was five and would have been deprived of one of my earliest memories.

Also Luke may have Felt up his sister and we would all be a little more skeeved.

 

I believe it would be very disturbing.

 

I'd become a Star Trek fan instead.

 

I would definatly watch this. That would be great!

But, I don't think the blood would increase, since blasters burn the skin and don't allow blood to arrise.

I'd love to see this as well, but like someone said earlier, it would have to be an Infinities kind of thing. I wouldn't want the R-rated versions to be the official versions no matter how cool they might turn out.

He did the OT, I'll do the PT on what we could have seen:

The Phantom Menace:

-Replaced Gunagans with crazy slasher aliens who hate droids and every other word that comes out of their mouth is a swear word.
-Violent torture scene of the Queen's people that she's forced to watch to sign the treaty.
-Can you say bye-bye to cheezy dialogue?
-Battle of Naboo + slashing aliens + battle droids + blood and gore + swearing = Good times
-Let's show Maul getting cut in half and fall to the floor, blood and guts style instead of falling in the endless shaft.

Attack of the Clones:

-Graphic nudity scene between Padme and Anakin before their secret marriage. (Or sex scene that would create the two...(spolier edit))
-In the arena scene, rather than the beast scratch Padme, why not rip the clothes off entirely?
-Cursing by Anakin to show the true nature of his evilness.
-Violent slaughter of Tusken Raiders.
-Violent and gory Battle of Geonosis.
-More painful death of Zan Wessel
-Let's see Anakin's arm chopped off and blood spurting out from the end.

For both movies, just let your imagination run off with it. ROTS will already be dark. Use your imagination on that one too.

 

come on guys. Just look at all those gratuouse (sp?) star wars rip-offs like "Space Mutiny". Yeah, they had all the gore and the sex, but they also were really bad movies. While it would be curious to see, I dont think that an 'R' rated Star Wars would retain its timless appeal.

OK, and also, the bar in Coruscant lower levels, would now be a strip club.
-Jango's head would go flying out of his helmit and land in Boba's lap.
-C-3P0 would now cuss a ton
-in TPM, obi wan would not only cut Maul in half, he would then carve his body into small bloody chunks

they should have the hooker chick that sits in Han's lap in the novelization.

I don't think Han and Leia should have a sex scene that soon. they're still too confused. it takes out the pure fun of the romantic comedy in the darkest (and best) sw film.

As a female SW fan, I think that the ploys to show Portman's navel as much as possible in AOTC were so cheap and obvious....

"monster claws at the back of Padme's shirt and voila! it's a belly shirt" (to say nothing of her nipples popping out of that same white outfit)

The rating for this was HUGE! It had to be PG

Very few film make this kind of money that Star Wars has with an R rating - until recently that is. The Matrix is the exception. LOTR has to be PG-13 or it would lose a lot of audience as well.

I think that star wars would still b farily popular with an R rating, idt it wuld b as big as it is, so ur right we prolly wuldnt b here.

As for matrix it made allot of money but that didnt make it a good series, the first one wuz good but the other 2 were crap... but thats another forum and another time

 

We'd have a good movie for adults and not kids. The only reason I would want the R rating is for more intense battles and duels.

 

I think that would be sweet.You can hear Mace get the ***k out,or maybe a nude Padme.

 

There wouldn't be a bunch of screaming 6 year olds in the theatre who ruin your cinema experiance by asking their parents (loudly) what is going on every 5 minutes.
