What in the heck is a pitten?

What in the heck is a pitten? I've seen references to them in several of the books, and various fanfic, but no one says what they are!

Are they felines of some kind?

Also, what is a peroota cat? Is it like the housecat that we take for granted?

I know that there are dogs in the SW continuum.

Please someone tell me, I really would like to know.

 

I've looked on Wookieepedia and CUSWE and can't find either. Near as I can tell, a pitten is like a kitten, only with a weird name.

 

I believe Yoda had a pet pitten, believe it or not (though I may be mistaken since it's not in the Wookieepedia... I thought i'd seen that in there before)... and it's was like a small house cat. The peroota, I'm not sure. It's not in the wookieepedia.

I always assumed that "pittin" was a portmanteau word for puppy/kitten. I never liked the name much, honestly.

"All Terrain Attack Vehicle"? Reminds me of my mom's cat, Bambi, or as I liked to call her, "The She-Demon from the Depths of Hell".

 

Four-pawed Attack Vehicle?

That would be Sam the Monster Cat From Hell. Bites like a gundark, loves like a (hmm, what would that be in the SW universe?) and sheds enough fur it looks like it's snowing year round.
