A few of us were talking about this at MHC, so I thought I would make yet another poll in an effort to widen the pool and talk Jane Austen. [face_love]

    My favorite? Persuasion.

Which movie adaptions are we talking of here?

    LOL

I have to say that Persuasion and Pride and Prejudice are my favorite books=)

As far as film adaptation, so far my favorite is the mini series of Pride and Prejudice with Jennifer Ehle as Lizzie=)

Edited to correct stupid spelling mistakes

    Zoo! Blasphemy!! ;)

I used to hate her books/movies...til I read a biography of the poor woman, and now I see the movies and novels completely differently. She rewrote her own story six times and each time it ended happily...in direct contrast to her actual life in which she was too afraid to embrace love and then spent the rest of it regretting her decision. What therapy!

I love Mansfield Park as well, but it was more jarring to me than other works, especially the part about what happened with the slaves.

heck, I dont care...I have seen them all. [face_blush]

and if someone did care I prefer the 1995 Persuasion, but the actors in the 2007 version were much easier on the eyes. :D

edited to say, I prefer the ending of the latter version...the running scene? Took my breath away. *swoon*

Sarn, I prefer that version of P&P too...my mom is madly in love with Colin Firth and watches all of his movies.

I think I might have to buy my mom some movies for Christmas...almost all of her collection consists of bad vhs recordings, and sometimes it can be painful to watch them.

I find it interesting how many people have felt the need to post their dislike of Jane Austen in this thread. I'll have to remember that the next time someone starts a thread pertaining to a subject I am not fond of. [face_plain]

    I didn't vote.

I love all of her works, and just can't rate them.

Interestingly enough, there was a "Complete Works of Jane Austen" book on sale at Borders a few days ago, I bought it for
a Xmas gift for a dear friend.

It is abridged, but may still be available for anyone that would like to sample a bit of each.

    That said....great question Jen.
