I couldn’t think of a better word to describe this. But what I mean here is what thing that involves Star Wars was the moment you had the most joy or excitement?

honestly for me it’s hard to choose from the two celebrations I attended, seeing ROTJ in theaters again this year or galaxy’s edge.

but I have to say it was building my own lightsaber at galaxy’s edge. I was just giddy the whole time.

so pick a moment from Star Wars or the first time you watched a trailer or a specific scene or event. And let’s geek out about it.

I gotta say seeing SW: In Concert, was a lot of fun! I loved seeing the exhibits they had in the lobby, seeing all the costumes and the 501st troops.

But what was even better than that, was meeting Mr. Ray Park.

When I was eleven, I saw The Phantom Menace for the first time, first day it was out, at the huge main screen of my home town's movie theater which has sadly since closed.Back then, there were limited screenings of new films, at least where I lived, there weren't twenty showings a day or something for the big blockbusters, and getting a ticket for the first day was kind of a big deal. They even gave out certificates on the way out to prove you'd been there first day (which I still have of course). It was particularly memorable because it was really the first sci-fi movie I'd seen and kind of blew my mind.

Oh my god —- there are so many. Soooo so many. Star Wars has been a part of my life for so long.

probably seeing ROTJ for the first time in theaters with my Dad.

when older — meeting Carrie Fisher at Celebration IV. She shared her M&Ms with us and gave me this look because I didn’t personalize her autograph. I wanted it to be just her.

I think mine is when this teaser came out

Probably replayed that thing on loop upwards of 50 times

The actual opening night of The Force Awakens was awesome too. My local theater now has it where you can select where you sit when buying your ticket, but back then that hadn't been implemented yet, so we had to arrive early and wait in a big line. Which sounds like it would be horrible, but it made it feel like the big event that it was. The later releases where you could pick your seat just didn't have that same energy. They also had the Star Wars logo projected on the front of the building. It was sick.

Honestly yes. Even though I agree with some of the criticisms of the film TFA will always have a special place in my heart

Watching Star Wars on release day in the UK when I was four. I have never forgotten the intense feelings of that day. Queuing up with my dad; getting the brochure; having to sit through Winnie the Pooh before the ice-cream break: the ads; that incredible 20th Century Fox fanfare; cut to black then 'A Long time ago in a galaxy far, far away' .... BANG!

Every time I watch it, I'm that little kid again.

From 1977 to 1983, I couldn't wait to see that horrible monster Darth Vader get struck down, preferably by the righteous wrath of a Jedi lightsaber. But when the moment of his death came and he quietly slipped away, it was just so sad.

That's the right way to subvert expectations. Blew me away.

There are a lot of moments I love, but I could no sooner choose a favorite than I could choose a favorite star in the heavens.

Walking into Galaxy’s Edge is probably my favorite thing. It’s magical and you feel almost like you’re inside the movies.
My other moment was seeing RotJ at a press screening prior to opening night. It was SRO, but I had a seat and we all gasped together, and squealed and clapped together. I cried, a lot.

Oh 1999, the build up TPM. That was a time to be alive.

You had Coke Vs Pepsi competing by putting different characters on their products. Lays chips had mini-posters inside their bags. Every, and I do every fast food chain had Star Wars toys with their meals. Couldn't go into any store without seeing Star Wars merch, rather on magazines, trading cards, figures, school supplies, etc...

Nothing has even come close to relieving that, and I doubt anything will ever have that feeling again.

    There's a few:

The lead-up and aftermath of the TPM release, as a 10 year old, was amazing. All the merchandise. My grandma took me to Taco Bell, KFC, and Pizza Hut each week to make sure I got all the toys. I spent my mowing & chore money on Jedi Apprentice books and Young Jedi cards. I got several TPM Lego sets for Christmas the following winter. Me and a group of friends went as Star Wars characters for Halloween that year (I was Obi-Wan). It was almost an entire year before the VHS came out and the wait was brutal. The TPM video game was awesome (I am currently replaying it right now via inspiration from a thread in the PT forum) and Jedi Power Battles the next year was awesome too.

I live close to Indy, so I was able to go to Celebrations II & III. Unfortunately I don't think I have any surviving photos from either. But it was an absolute blast. I saw both AOTC and ROTS in midnight showings at the theater as well (and then several times thereafter). The leadup to ROTS was extra special because of how much was going on in the fandom. These boards were at their absolute peak. I got an advance copy of the ROTS novel audio-discs on CD due to a shipping error from Wal-Mart, along with a couple other people here on the boards.

Skip several years and seeing my daughters get excited about Star Wars stuff is really fun. The older one just turned 5 in November and she can tell you most of the characters and a little about them. She has an Ahsoka doll she loves and some Grogu/Mando toys. Grogu pajamas. Rey and BB8 pajamas. She knows Padme / Queen Amidala and Princess Leia well and loves them too. We let her watch some of the Leia scenes in the Obi-Wan series and she enjoyed that. She watched most of the Clone Wars series with my wife and I last fall and just loves Clone Wars Ahsoka. Now that the holiday stuff is slowing down she's going to watch Rebels now. She doesn't fully pay attention but is in the room playing and pays attention to scenes that interest her or aren't "too scary." My other daughter is not quite 2 and can recognize Grogu (GO-GOO!) from a mile away even at the store because her older sister has a Grogu toy and plays with it with her. I'll be excited that the older one will be old enough for the theater when the Mando & Grogu movie and the new Rey movie comes out

I would say pretty much all of Star Wars Celebration Anaheim in 2022, but getting a winning lotto ticket to the main panel along with an invite from Ewan McGregor himself to the Obi-Wan Kenobi World Premiere…I don’t think I’ve ever been that happy, ever

I am a prequel gen fan. Never in a million years did I dream I’d get to be at the world premiere of what was basically a 4th Star Wars prequel, and get to meet Ewan himself as well. I’m still stunned it happened!

Well it's not a joyous moment, but I have to pick it because it remains the most powerful moment in my cinematic experience. Yes , you know what I'm going to say , "I am your father."
It's so brilliant, so jaw dropping. The greatest twist in movie history.
And it's the capper to a brilliant sequence, I mean I can't tell you how excited I was that Luke would duel Vader, just that was fantastic. And the whole thing is done so magnificently , the duel, the lighting, music editing, direction, photography.
I was so utterly gripped as Luke got deeper and deeper into trouble, and then he loses his ****ing hand!! I actually let out a yelp in the theater. You'd think that would be the climax, but no , now comes the killer line.

It never leaves me , that visceral memory, that thrill of being so shocked and yet knowing it's true.

I have two. One off-screen, and one on.

The off-screen one happened a few years ago, at Disneyland Paris. It's nearing the end of the day, and so the queues are thinning. My partner and I are about to go on the new Star Tours for the last time before we leave. We'd been on it loads during our visit, but all of its dialogue had always been locked to French, so I didn't really know what was going on. Although my partner recognised enough words to give me some rough context to the story, it wasn't the same; I was missing that extra 10% immersion to make it magical. But it was okay. I didn't really mind all that much, and enjoyed it as "themed mayhem".

We get to the front of the queue and my partner suddenly starts a very deliberate (and somewhat uncharacteristic) conversation with me. Things like, "It's a shame they don't have scheduled trips in other languages, isn't it?" and "Remind me again, the prequels are your favourites, aren't they? Was Coruscant in the originals?" I'm a little confused, but also kinda hyping myself up for one last go, so I get a bit awkward and my situational awareness switches itself off.

Then the ride starts... and Threepio's speaking English.

Vader tries to stop our departure (and he's speaking English, too). We escape and crash into Tatooine, getting tangled up in a podrace. Yoda then sends us a message, before we conclude on Coruscant, which I hadn't seen before. The whole thing had been in English.

Once we're back out in the corridor, I couldn't help it. My knees buckled and I just started to cry. Turns out that extra 10% made all the difference.

For four perfect minutes, Star Wars had been real to me.

My partner gave me a moment to compose myself before explaining what had happened. Apparently, we'd been queueing right beside the operator's control panel, and the Disneyland cast member on duty, standing over my shoulder, had clocked our entire pre-flight conversation with a knowing smile. They'd done a quick scan of the other patrons in the queue and then started pushing buttons. I'd been making requests without even realising it.

Say what you will about Disney, but they really do trade in magic sometimes.

Anyway, as for the on-screen one? That's a bit more personal, but this specific actor, saying these specific words...?

    Yeah. That.

Star tours is so much fun.

I did it 8 times on my recent trip to Disney world. Until I got the tour the spy picture.

there is something like 700 unique rides you can get on star tours. So basically you’re almost always getting a unique one.

anyway last I heard they are updating it in like March of this year. They haven’t been clear on what they are adding but from their comments on “planets not seen in the films) I assume they are adding planets from Mandalorian, Ahsoka, Kenobi and maybe Andor. But I don’t know what planet they would even add from Andor lol.

Oh yea they did a complete overhaul of it I think was it 2010 or 2012. It was before Disney. Completely replaced the simulation pod to and updated that a lot. I can’t compare the two. As the last time I went to Disney before it was updated I was like 7. So I don’t remember anything about it.

In order by chronological Skwalker saga film:

    1. Shmi tells Anakin 'Don't look back', and the music swells.
    2. Senators and Palpatine on a balcony as legions of clone troopers board their Star Destroyers
    3. 'You were the chosen one!' -- pitch perfect performance by Ewan McGregor
    4. Star Destroyer flies overhead at the film's beginning
    5. The entire carbon-freezing chamber scene
    6. Luke unleashes hell on Vader, then gains control of himself
    7. Rey and Kylo Ren fight while the ground splits under their feet between them
    8. Luke strides out alone to meet Kylo Ren and the First Order
    9. Rey and Kylo Ren fight and scatter Vader's ashes
