What is your favourite chess piece?

I've always liked to use the Rook, personally and I try and save them more than any other piece other than the King (Obviously).

 

Oh boy, this is a tough one. The Queen is the ultimate piece, and can single-handedly win a game. But the Knight, ahh, the Knight?such a deliciously deceptive devil of a piece.

To me, here's a quick look at the others: The Rook is just for the endgame, nothing exciting about it. The Bishop has never had high prospects. The King is just a stud ( ) and the pawns are usually simple blockers or are used as a last dash for power.

Back to the Knight and Queen. Hmmm.

My vote goes to the Queen. It would, in the end, be my favourite. Such inescapable influence.

The knight is close - very, very close. But ultimately, I have to go with the Queen. She rules the board.

 

The Queen is the piece that can be used for phsycological warfare as well as traditional.

The Rook, and I'll tell you why. It's small and unassuming, but it's still quite powerful and you get 2 of them!



I have yet to run into a match where two rooks on a side without a queen can't handle a queen without a rook. Follow?

The knight, it's the hardest to defend against and is so useful on a cluttered board. Though rooks in the end game are awesome

But knights get my vote

 

The bishop is deceptively useful.

 

Knight, great piece for opening board moves to get control of the middle-board in conjunction wth a pawn move or two.
