what rank is cade he weilds a green lightsaber but all skywalkers were gaurdians. shado must be a jedi gaurdian because of his lightsaber skills.

RF: Jedi "classes" are arbitrary, RPG-based designators. Its probably a bad idea to pigeon-hole Jedi into those categories, because they don't all fit perfectly. Either way, this is probably better off as part of the Legacy Discussion Thread.

    Lightsabre colour =/= Class

I just see the class system as a game mechanic anyway.

Yeah. This "Jedi class" business is stupid.

Cade's a padawan dropout, and the color of his lightsaber has nothing to do with it.

    'Grunge' class

EDIT: What year was he supposed to graduate? We'll know his class then.

The KoToR blue=guardian, yellow=sentinel, green=consular system is great for a computer game but even if it was largley canon at the time, this is over four thousand years later. You can have any colour lightsaber you like, even if they are starting to trend more towards the traditional green/blue/red if sith visuals these days. (Personally I wish they'd keep more of the different colours, and give new characters various coloured lightsabers like Jaina and Anakin's purple sabers, Zekk's flame blade, and Corran's silver one).

So Cade's saber doesn't have any bearing on his "class". Even if it did, he's actually wielding a blue saber when we see him as a Jedi Padawan in flashbacks. The green saber isn't his - it's one he picks up while they're fighting off the sith while defending the Mynock I think...

Also classes make for useful mechanical game terms and there's some evidence some of the class names were genuine titles in the Order during the KoToR period (the Jedi Conuslars Zayne talks about for instance). But they're not the be-all and end-all of Jediness. I imagine that Jedi have a bit more individuality than that.

Having said that, yes, it does seem that Cade was more of a martial Jedi than a contemplative one (Shado certainly is). Who knows how that will change if, later on, he decides to concentrate more on his healing. (But as a great example, Guardians aren't usually associated with healing, but hey - it's a story, Cade's got wild talent, so it doesn't matter, and attempting to apply mechanical distinctions that were only ever created as tools for roleplaying games is counterproductive.)

Yeah, it seems to be canon at the time of the comics- all the Masters except Lucien have green sabers, and he has a blue one, while I believe JJM has said that the fact that Zayne has a yellow saber may point to him being a sentinel.

He does luke like Kurt Cobain Meets Star Wars doesnt he?

As for the class sysetem....game mechanics, best not to apply it elsewhere. Most jedi dont fit in the caste system...particularly skywalkers. And blade color is certainly not indicative of anything...at least not at this point in history. Save the taboo that is red.

    And Adi Gallia.

What I've noticed though, is that those Jedi with blue or green skin tend to have matching lightsabers (Yoda, Aayla Secura, etc).

It isn't, actually. The one he's holding on the cover does look like Anakin's in Episode II, but Luke never gets ahold of it, and the one he uses in the actual issue (not in his fight with Vader) doesn't really resemble Luke's saber at all.

Firstly, that doesn't negate any of the comments I had in the body of my post.

Secondly, if you are correct than all that does is create another problematic issue for you if you're using the blue=guardian, green=consular paradigm because now you have to explain why Luke has a green lightsaber too.

Thirdly, if it's Luke's lightsaber, then clearly it's not Cade's so it can't be used to judge his "class" (again if you're going with the color=class worldview).

Fourthly, points two and three are moot anyway, because you're wrong. It's got the same handle/grip section as Anakin Skywalker's lightsaber, Luke's first lightsaber, but a green blade, whereas Luke's first lightsaber had a blue blade. The grip is very different from Luke's green lightsaber. This is going from the cover picture where we get the best look at the green lightsaber.

The design is probably being used because it's an iconic design - an homage.

Class? Well, he uses both red and yellow-orange deathsticks, so I'd say that makes him a Class A Druggie. [face_peace]

And can't we discuss this somewhere else? Like in the bazillion of other Legacy threads that already exist? Maybe in the Official Legacy Thread?
