Personally I prefer form 4 (Qui-Gon and Yoda use form 4) and 2 (Count Dooku). What form(s) do you like?

I don't have a clue what all the different forms are. I've heard there are 7, but I couldn't name them.

For me it would have to be Form II followed closley by Form VII. I just love the finesse of Form II.

P.S.: Do you guys wanna know about the forms? I was gonna make a thread describing them but I figured everybody either knew them or didn't care.

For me it would easily be Dooku's. I just love that curbed handle.

After reading about the various lightsaber techniques in a recent addition of Star Wars Insider...I found that Form III is my favorite lightsaber technique.

When my fanforce friends and I get together, which typically involves alot of lightsaber sparing (in somebody's back yard or local park). As I was reading the description, I noticed (while never taking any serious fencing/sword training) that alot of MY lightsaber style is in line with Form III.

Form III maximizes defensive protection in a style characterized by tight, efficient movements that expose minimal target area compared to the relatively open style of the other forms. - Star Wars Insider: issue 62

Granted...I can't jump and flip like the jedi in Form IV or Form VII (aside from any formal jedi training) ;) but it just wouldn't fit in with my personal style

Form VII. Used by the bad Mo Fo himself. It is the form I use, I love the ammount of emotion you use in a fight, but I don't know how Mace was able to control it so he didn't turn to the dark side.

Could someone tell me the most aggressive style used, i got no clue bout em but im a very aggressive fighter and usually charge and block only when i cant dodge. Too bad none of my friends are too into it so i cant spar :(.

    Yodas or Form IV.

What form does Darth Maul use, shouldn't he use "form 8" since he has a double bladed saber? Isn't that a seperate form from single bladed saber fighting? And what about fighting with 2 sabers? Doesn't that have a form of it's own?

    Okay, from my understanding:

    Obi-Wan in TPM: Form IV
    Obi-Wan in AOTC: Form III
    Anakin in AOTC: Form V
    Qui-Gon in TPM: Form IV
    Yoda in AOTC: Form IV
Count Dooku in AOTC: Form II
Mace Windu in AOTC: Form VII

My favorite of this group would Obi-Wan's version of Form IV. It's so energetic, swift, and has a great look to it. But if I were to use one of these styles personally, I'd use either Form II or Form VII. They seem to use the least amount of energy, yet still get the job done in ease.

Just goin back to some questions:

-I would have to say Form V followed closley by VII is the most aggresive. Form V focuses a lot on overpowering your opponent so I would think that would be the most aggresive.

-Darth Maul uses a specialized version of Form VII.

-Using two lightsabres is a variation on Form IV.

Also I made a thread in the Star Wars misc. section describing the Forms in more detail.

    They go like this:

Form I-the Jedi younglings are practicing this with Yoda when Obi shows up. The earliest dueling style.

Form II- Dooku. Designed specifically for use against other sabre-weilders. Very precise, not so good against folks with blasters.

Form III-Obi-Wan in AOTC, Ep. III, and ANH. maximizes defense; true Form III masters are considered invincible.

Form IV- Obi-Wan & Qui-Gon in TPM, Yoda in AOTC. Uses the Force very extensively to go what is beyond physically possible. Best demonstrated by Yoda in fighting Dooku.

Form V- Anakin in AOTC, and Ep. III, and the OT as Vader. Emphasizes strength and sabre attack moves.

Form VI- The pansy fighting style that winds up with a lot of dead Jedi at Geonosis to brag about. Don't pick this one, folks.

Form VII-Mace Windu, Darth Maul. The most advanced and difficult of all sabre forms. Uses advanced Force movements and jumps, plus unconnected sabre attacks-no linked moves here. Kinda like Jeet Kune Do applied to Jedi.

Form IV - it's more pleasing to the eye than anything else. Although if I were fighting my favorite would be VII, less use of energy which is key in battle.

So IV to watch, VII to perform. :D

As an off topic note: I found the article in Star Wars Insider about the different forms of lightsaber battles very interesting. Someone should get a good pat on the back for coming up with the idea to write that. :)

My favorite forms are 2, 3, and 4. IMO, form two is the purest form of lightsaber dueling, form 3 is the most defensive oriented, and form 4 is the most athletic. I like all three of those characteristics. :)
