I know there are alot of military buffs here, and a few in the service now so I thought this would be a good place to ask since I plan to enlist in a year I was wondering which infantry type unit sees the most combat? And I don't mean like Marines I mean as specific as you can, whether it's Special Forces or Navy SEALS or whatever. Anybody know or have an idea?

The Seals, Army Rangers, Special Forces and Marines are fairly equivalent. They are all special fighting groups. The best of the best is Marine Force Recon.

Are Marine and Army Pathfinders used in the real world at all anymore? (since there are hardly any major combat jumps)

    The Punisher.

The best of the best is Marine Force Recon.

My Navy SEAL fireteam from SOCOM is far superior to jarheads. :p

I would say 75th Rangers, 82nd AB Div, 173rd Airborne, Special Forces(SEALS & Army) and US Marine MEU's.

Probably the United States Coast Guard. They get shot at and return fire on a frighteningly regular basis, especially down in the Caribbean.

Do you mean sustained combat operations or quick strikes/infiltrations that many of the Spec forces excel at?

Because Seals, etc. don't stay on the front lines too long.

Your planning on enlisted next year? well good for you. In this day with everything going on that is a rare thing...since enlistment's are down pretty much everwhere..(the marines usually make their quota though; Navy does allright just by nature of their operations)

Don't buy into the hollywood garbage about what you see on screen..make a smart, informed decision and go with it. Good luck.

by the way, Both SEALS and RECON are pretty badass....

(SAS too but I'm assuming your not going to England )
