If the Original Trilogy characters were living about now, what music would they listen to?

I think Leia would like Alanis Morrisette, or maybe Diana Ross ("I Will Survive!") :p

I think, that Boba_Fett would like rock music(just like me ;-) ), Han solo would listen Rap,Leia would like Nelly Furthado. Jedi wouldn't listen a music, cause it is a pleasure and jedi are not allowed to have lot of pleasure.

Sad as it is, I can see Han as a jazz man. He looks the sort to kick back rather than par-tay.

Luke would probably listen to manufactured pop in ANH, metal in ESB, goth/industrial at the beginning of ROTJ, and orchestral after the series ends.

Leia actually seems the sort to listen to talk radio rather than music.

I'm thinkin' Chewie's actually into Bob Dylan for some reason.

Threepio listens to classical. Artoo listens to Men Without Hats.

Lando? I see him as a blues man to compliment Han's jazz. I think the two of them would have this MP3 swap thing goin' on.

Darth Vader listens to Wagner, of course.

Young Obi-Wan's into pub music, like Gaelic Storm before they released "Tree". Old Obi-Wan has a special place in his heart for ragtime.

Wedge Antilles will never admit he likes New Age, mostly puts on movie scores when entertaining, especially Christopher Franke's Babylon 5 stuff.

Boba Fett will never admit he's into third-wave ska, but has no problem admitting his love of Metallica, MegaDeth, and Motley Crue.

Yoda likes opera, Joan Jett, and anything from "The Muppet Show".

Owen and Beru have a thing for Big Band.

All Kaminoans prefer whale songs to actual music.

Jabb the Hutt, well, we've already heard his musical choices. :D

    Here's what I think...

ANH Luke: Journey (it's popular for kids his age, he heard that his dad liked them [read below], and it keeps his dreary life a little rhythmic, getting him through everyday...and can't you see young Luke sitting in that garage with the T-16 model on the table, and as he paints it, the song "Anyway You Want It" is blaring and Luke lip syncs with great emotion in his face, and anytime a guitar riff comes along, he bits his bottom lip and wags his head to the rhythm? God, I need to make the Ultimate Edition myself)
ESB Luke: Rage Against the Machines (Luke wasn't really sure what the hell to do as a leading member of the Alliance so he got into music that is sort of tough, sort of political, sort of everything...but is dynamic in it's own right, and it would correlate well with his riding Tauntauns around on Hoth, in the middle of nowhere, just chillin, or with training on Dagobah, or with fighting Vader...anything you want, it will fit with Rage)
ROTJ Luke: Incubus (A laid-back style for the now-Jedi, with a little bit of faster, more emotional stuff mixed in to center him after his dad dies in his arms, "nice to know you, goodbyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyye, NICE TO KNOW YOU")

Han: Clipse (basically anything produced by the Neptunes, I don't know why, but after Hollywood Homicide, I'm starting to associate Harrison Ford with rap, and seeing him bobbing his head in the Falcon cockpit to Snoop Dogg and Pharrell "Beautiful" and kinda singing along while Chewie taps his hand on the dashboard as they cruise...just makes the world a happier place)

Chewie: (whatever Han likes, he won't admit that he's a closet Bob Marley fan, because he is Han's hetero-life-mate and doesn't want to upset him)

Leia: Fiona Apple or No Doubt (Sorry to have the one girl like girl artists, but, it's hard for girls to relate to guys singing, and Leia has sort of a sarcastic, mean streak sometimes, an attribute Apple and Gwen Stefani have exhibited on many occasions. And Leia rarely is the damsel in distress, and these two girls usually do something about such stereotypes with their music. When Leia is looking around before, during and after she records her message for Obi-Wan, I can see it cut up with other scenes of Leia shooting at things, etc. while "Criminal" by Fiona Apple plays.)

Vader: All classic rock (I deliberated over this for a while, and Vader really pretty much is the same for the entire OT, till the very end, and I think he would "go with what worked" throughout, and bands like Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, Tom Petty, Rolling Stones, etc. would fit whatever mood he was in. Plus, a few visions came to me: the first of Vader striding down, past the cubicles of a Star Destroyer [you KNOW they had to have some room where a bunch of nerd officers worked on computers] and handing orders for death machines while "Cashmere" by Led Zeppelin played, choking guys who gave him coffee that wasn't hot enough, or that some report wouldn't be ready on time, that riff is very Vader-like; the other vision was of Vader shuffling through boxes of baby photos of Luke and Leia, with Padme holding the kids, while Aerosmith's "Jaded" played in the background. Don't ask me why, it just happens..."BABY, I'M AFRAID OF YOU")

Lando: Curtis Mayfield (Call me racist, but I can see Lando carrying two glasses of champagne, with his little cape off and his shirt unbuttoned, as the blinds on the windows raise to show Cloud City lit up at night, just pumping this music when he gets some girls back to his Cloud City pad. "You truly belong here among the clouds..." Lando is a pimp.)

Obi-Wan: A Tribe Called Quest (it's the best rap ever made, and it's really hard to say it's rap, it's just GOOD music, with actual meanings and messages. I can see Ben practicing with the remote in his hut as it plays...he's stepping side to side to block the beams, bobbing his head and singing along without making a sound, much like Luke)

Boba Fett: Sum 41 and Jimmy Eat World (being a Bounty Hunter is the ultimate punk thing to do, and I can see Boba hanging

First, to my favorite, Palpatine. I see him listening to Bruckner, alone in his throne room ("guards leave us"). He would decree, once and for all, the definitive versions of the symphonies.

I'll dispense with the other major characters, since they bore me. I thought I'd be somewhat creative and do the minor characters.

    Minor Characters

Piett - On the Executor, he listens to military marches. At home he sits on a comfortable old stuffed chair next to a fire, drinking a glass of port, listening to old sentimental Noel Coward tunes feeling nostalgic for the first ship on which he served and his other first true love, Jerjerrod.

Jerjerrod - Aside from the original Broadway cast recording of "How to Succeed in Death Star Construction Without Really Trying," our second favorite Moff listens to the theme from "Teletubbies," while sucking his thumb. All this brings a pleasant, yet unnerving, comfort to him not otherwise available during his hectic work week. The thumb sucking, in particular, calls to mind fond memories of his nursemaid until the age of six, Jocasta. He also repeatedly watches the claymation classic, "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer," for the character of Hermey the Elf; "Frasier" for the character of Niles Crane; and the inferior American version of "Antiques Roadshow" for the host, because the stormtroopers in 2nd Best Legion No. 13 tell him he resembles each of them. He still doesn't see the resemblance, but will redouble his efforts.

Ackbar - Debussy's "La Mer" and Blue Oyster Cult. One need not say more.

Ozzel - "Closer" by Nine Inch Nails. Too close.

Lobot - I suspect he's deaf but can read lips. He's a very good dancer.

    General Madine - Jefferson Airplane.

General Rieekan - With his wife he listens to Perry Como. While working out back in the tool shed, he listens to his guilty pleasure: pre-Sammy Van Halen.

Major Derlin - "Making your way in the world today takes everything you've got. Taking a break from all your worries sure would help a lot...." We know the rest, don't we?

One PT character. Jar Jar listens to "The Breakfast Club" soundtrack during his "brisky morning munchin" or while he's in Obi Wan's "Pathetic Lifeform Detention Camp." I can just picture some Bender telling poor Jar Jar, "Look, I can see you getting all bunged up for them making you wear these kinda clothes. But face it, you're a Neo-Maxi-Zoom-Dweebie! What would you be doing if you weren't out making yourself a better citizen?"

Mon Mothma - Enya (especially "Orinoco Flow"), assorted New Age and Enigma. Yes, she truly is that insipid.

Bib Fortuna - Other than whatever Jabba listens to, I'd say he is fond of Schoenberg and Philip Glass.

Here's another PT. Shmi - "Slave to the Rhythm" by Grace Jones.
And another. Gardulla the Hutt, "The Gambler" by Kenny Rogers.

Needa - Right before taking the shuttle to the Executor, "All Apologies" by Nirvana. Otherwise, after taking his nightly necessary dosage of sleeping pills, he futilely tries to fall asleep to the operas of Strauss, especially "Elektra" in an attempt to bring back what he just knows are rapturous repressed memories of his father.

General Maximilian Veers - Unlike Piett, he truly loves marches. They're not just for show for him, but in his more quiet moments, he's fond of early opera, especially Handel and Monteverdi. However, in his rare weak moments, especially after celebrating a victory, he has been know to crank up those majestic Queen anthems: "Mama, just killed a man, put a gun against his head, pulled my trigger, now he's dead."

Generall Dodonna - The derivative Triumphal March from Aida to practice for those excrutiating medal ceremonies that interfere with his battle planning. Otherwise he's become quite a fan of the Pet Shop Boys, especially "The Sound of the Atom Splitting." He liked the title, because it reminded him of what he was going to do to the Death Star, but then he learned to like "the Boys." Little does he know why all his lieutenants snicker at him when he puts on "Young Offender."

Vader/Anakin would certainly sense a lot of himself in angst rock like Linkin Park. I still think the lyrics of In the End sound like they're about him.

I see pre-Rebellion Luke listening to disco. "I'm going nowhere, somebody help me."

All the characters I like would listen to 311, and the characters I don't like wouldn't

Because whether you like 311 or not is the defining factor if you're evil or not
