The Knights of the Old Republic comic series has already established Malak?s original name as having been Alek Squinquargesimus, indicating that his Sith title was inspired by his given name. Even though Revan has already been shown to have based his title on his nickname, ?the Revanchist,? it would be cool if that nickname were then shown to be a play on his birth name as well.

That said, I would have Revan?s original name prior to his fall be canonized as Rev Antilles.

What are some of your ideas as to what Revan?s name could be canonized as?

That we know the Revanchist is a "him" is already too much information for my tastes.

Either you're suggesting his mother be Vima Sunrider OR you're extending Vima-Da-Boda's lifespan beyond plausibility.

Is this referencing something in particular? I looked that name up on Wookiepedia but didn't find any matches.

It's a common suggestion the best way to use Vima Sunrider is have her get married and drop her controversial last name.

It's the Youtube Movie about KOTOR actually.

Surprisingly, it ended with the Dark Side ending

I still say his name should be Bob. Everyone has this weird names except for like Luke and Leia.. we need more characters with normal names. Bob's as normal as it gets.

It's weird that because of Star Wars, I know people whose kids are named Jacen and Jaina.

Not really. King Richard's nephew was named after King Arthur.

The name "Cedric" entirely comes from the novel Ivanhoe.

I briefly considered naming my future daughter Ozma.

Regardless as to where other people have done it, that doesn't make it less scary.. I mean hell, how would it look if my 2nd daughter was named Tenel Ka, or Alema... or Allison Chou? Scary.

    Allison wouldn't raise any eyebrows.

Alema, you might get away with.

I think Tenel may be a real name.

I don't know about before Darth Revan, but after his mind wipe he is called Sulrich Skywalker.

At least for me he does.

And I think thats kind of the whole point about keeping him vague, it allows everyone to keep there own personal version of KOTOR valid and still fit within the overall continuity.

Obviously they had to give him a gender, just for the fact you can't keep going Revan did this then Revan did that then Revan said whatever.

    Same with the Exile.

That said I thought the male version of both Revan and the Exile were more interesting (I have no problem with a female exile, just annoyed that now to play a canon version I lose the Handmaiden and get stuck with the Disciple... I really hoped I could find a MOD that would allow both characters to come with me).

Wasn't Jaina already a normal real-life name? It's not common, but it's not exclusive to Star Wars. Jacen would be more iffy, but still acceptable. Now there were both a Jacen and a Jaina in the family, that would be wrong....

The Revanchist. His real name isn't important - his message is :)

Actually, I don't want him to be canonized as being named, being either white, black or asian and having a known birthplace. It's good to know his sex and what he's doing, and getting to know him in the war but I think it's also fun to keep him as a more mysterious character, such as Yoda's species is. That's my view I guess. Malak wasn't mysterious to begin with, and he didn't get any customization option anyway.

I always assumed that the name given to him by the council differed from his birth name so that canonizing the later wouldn't be stepping on the players' toes when they go to name their character.

Furthermore, I would say Revan is too important to simply fit within continuity; he's the central figure of that era, and always skirting the issue of his identity seems to be a hindrance to telling the fullness of its history. Mysteriousness is appreciable, but so is long awaited revelation.

Prior to KOTOR comics and other sourcebooks, I thought that Revan and Malak used their own names, just added the Darth title to it (in fact, it was said that they were the first one to use it). And since other NPCs called them Jedi Knights Revan and Malak, I was under the impression that this was their identity before they fell to the Dark Side and officially became Darths.

Personally, I wouldn't mind having Revan's name canonized as Revan, but with the evolution of his nickname as Revanchist Leader, then just Revanchist, I don't think they'll do that. Revan, obviously comes next.

    Kaydon's great movie ftw!
I used the Star surname in the game as well. :D Long live the random name generators!!!

It could be Revan, but then again it might not be. The other characters in the game call Revan Revan though he/she insists not to be called that.

Still, it IS fun to walk about on Korriban telling people who you are ;)
