What spacecraft & vehicles would you like to see in an Extended Universe Complete Cross-Sections?

Do you think that it's about time that DR got around to making a Cross-Sections about ships & vehicles that we've been reading about or seeing in the comics already?

I'd really like to see Guri's figure 8 Stinger, Bossk's Hound's Tooth, the new Jedi Stealth-X's, the new Mando/Verpine Bes'uliik, the Wilde Karrde, the Jade's Fire, for some strange reason the Sun Crusher, all the Freelance ships from SWG like the Vaksai, Dunelizard & Kimogila, also the SWG Imperial POB VT49 Decimator & SoroSuub Personal Luxury Yacht 3000 to see if they match the interiors of the ships I've flown, ridden in or fought against in SWG, Xizor's Virago, Chiss Clawcraft, The Eclipse & even Katarn & Ors' Moldy Crow.

C'mon DK Publishing, there's 100's of ships/vehicles in the SW EU. Get Hans Jenssen & Richard Chasemore to cross-section them up, then print & sell the books! I can't be the only one that wants to see them.

 

Vong ships, Vong ships, Vong ships.

And PSDs.

 

Any ship we've got a name for but no other data (Strident class Star Defender, I'm talking about you), The Aleph Starfighter, the Corellian Dreadnaught, that sort of thing.

 

Hapan battle dragon, Nova-class ship-also Hapan, their fighter...

 

Screw EU entries. I am still waiting for a cross section of the Mon Calamari Star Cruiser, Nebulon-B Escort Frigate, Home One, etc.

What good would a cross-section of a Mon Cal ship do? They're all different.

 

You've got a point. Those were actually shown in the OT movies but they're not in my Spacecraft & Vehicles or the Entire Star Wars Saga Cross-sections book that I just got. How'd they manage to skip on showing those, wtk happened there? That's wierd.

 

Anything but the Falcon, X-wing, star destroyer... the usual ships.

 

Only in some classes. Besides, a cross section of the Liberty and Home One would give us alot of insight into Mon Cal shipbuilding, even if they are unique.

At a guess, canon issues. The views of Dr. Saxton, the author of the ICS series, diverge from what's (rightly or wrongly) been established in non-movie canon about their size, layout, capabilities.

I'll be absolutely honest that the deckplan of the Nebulon-B in The Far Orbit Project is NOT my favourite piece of canon, but I'm still not sure if I'd be comfortable over-ruling it.

I agree strongly with the Pellaeon-class (heck, perhaps we could have an ICS: Star Destroyers? )...

StealthX? Yes, yes, YES!!

The Corellian Dreadnaught would be fun, perhaps along with its frigate escorts, the Strident would be fun as well - are they related designs; why is the Strident so obscure? - and I wouldn't object to the Aleph, Yuuzhan Vong ships, Hapan ships.

I'd like to see some of the smaller Imperial cruisers: Vindicator-class, Dreadnaught, Carrack-class.

Am I the only person noting a pattern here? There are various groups of ships that it might be fun to see.

I'm personally less-inspired by the various small, individual ships that Tricky mentioned, but I guess they form another group themselves? Smuggler ships? Okeefe's Last Chance?

I'd also suggest doing an Expanded Universe MC80 - the standard WEG side-view for the MC80 might be a good place to start, for instance?

One thing I'm nervous about would be Dr. Saxton writing the text. Gary Sarli and the WotC Starship Battles guys, maybe?

But of I'm absolutely honest, I don't think we need to have this done in the prestige format of ICS, or the detail of Jenssen/Chasemore. I'd rather quantity over hyper-intensive detail, I think.

And there are already alternatives! DHC have been throwing around some lovely schematics pretty much for fun, and I'm also rather fond of the Jeff Carlisle ship illustrations in the RPG-related material: even if his Preybird bears no resemblance to the Last Command Sourcebook/SotP-back-cover depiction, and his No Luck Required is endearingly designed to display the elements of the ship's equipment clearly rather than respect their detailed disposition in "Emissary of the Void", this really nice, continuity-sensitive Mist Hunter looks a lot like it's his work. Happy, T2Q? ....

Oh, and I'd love to get a proper look at the Mynock... but I can't really see anyone giving us except Jan Duursema...

I dunno, there's a number of artists' depictions for EU ships that I just cringed at when I saw them.

 

If we're differentiating between what we'd like to see and what's likely, ships that were mentioned in a single line of dialogue are unlikely to appear until EU Incredible Cross-Sections, Vol. 25.
Ships like the YT-2400, Victory-class SDs, various YV ships, the Eclipse etc. would be the most likely to show up...

 

Pellaeon-class Star Destroyer. That's what I'd like to see.
