I admit. I am absolutly clueless as Star Wars games. [face_blush] The only ones I can think of as of this moment are Galactic Battlegrounds and Jedi Outcast. I no nothing about them, except that they are strategy games like C&C and Starcraft.

So I ask you people, what SW games do you recommend?

Outcast is a first person shooter, not a stratagy game

    Also,
Google might show you some good sites with a quick search. :)

I'd recommend X-Wing Alliance to you. A space simulator. You get to fly the Millenium Falcon into the Death Star and escape the Super Star Destroyer Executor before then. :)

    Alliance is a great game.

Rebellion, if you can find it, was a decent game of some strategy.

Shame they didn't make any add-ons for Alliance. :(

There's also X-Wing Vs. TIE Fighter (XvsT) Though it was released mainly as an online/multiplayer game, it has plenty of missions to keep you entertained for awhile. It also has the Balance of Power Campaigns, where you can play both sides of a similar campaign. You can find both XvsT and X-Wing: Alliance at any GameStop, EB Games or Best Buy at bargain price (usually sold in a white packaging under the LucasArts Classics label). There's also, of course, the original Jedi Knight (otherwise known as Dark Forces 2) and its expansion pack Mysteries of the Sith. You can get all of the Dark Forces Games (the DOS Dark Forces 1, Jedi Knight -- sans the Mysteries of the Sith Expansion -- and Jedi Outcast) in the Jedi Outcast Collectors tin. Last, but not least, is the original Rogue Squadron. While not exactly a hard flight sim like the X-Wing game, I find it pretty good.

Other upcoming games are the massive online roleplaying game Star Wars Galaxies (coming out for PC, Xbox and the PlayStation 2) and the roleplaying Knights of the Old Republic (for the GameCube, PC and Xbox). You can always buy any of these games directly from LucasArts by clicking here.

EDIT: Yes, it's a shame there aren't any add-ons to Alliance. The modding community though, produced several shipsets and additional campaigns (with additional ships even); some of these are pretty good.

Top 5 SW games to date IMO.

    1.Jedi Outcast
    2.Tie Fighter
    3.X-Wing Alliance
    4.Rogue Squadron/Leader
    5.Jedi Knight/MOTS

I can't speak for Clone Wars or Bounty Hunter as I've yet to play them. Another good series is the Starfighter games. While it's not that hard it does have a nice story.

Stay clear of the Rebel Assult series,TPM game and Jedi Power Battles.

Even though these are some of the newest games out there, I can't honestly say they're exciting. I'd dare say that they're in the nieghborhood of "O.K.". You could say there's a direct correlation between the level of excitement created by the Prequel Movies and the games it has spawned (i.e. "lukewarm"...if not altogether "dissapointing"). Whatever you do, stay clear of Rebel Assault! Try one of the X wing series instead for a flight sim. I'm speaking out for Galactic Battlegrounds, though; an excellent RTS, great soundtrack, and really captures the feel of the SW universe. The Jedi Knight games are both excellent games too, but avoid Rebel Assaultat all costs!

"Stay clear of the Rebel Assault Series"

Am I the only one that actually liked those games? I will admit that they are no where near as good as the X-wing series but I still had fun with them.

Rebel Assault was great for its time - one of the first CD-Rom games with FMV, but now, 10 years down the track it's... well, it's best left well alone.

Invid_clone, i dont think that KotOR is coming out for the gamecube. Just xbox and pc.

But yeah, im saving up all my money so that i can get kotor when it comes out... Looks like the best thing to come since JK2, and looks like i'll be even happier with this one than i was with jk2... So my vote is with Knights of the Old Republic!

Rebel Assault wasn't a bad game in it's day, but it hasn't stood the test of time. X-wing, another old game, remains a classic and now, even though it looks dated it remains a solid game. Rebel Assault is simply dated.

lol 1stAD. I don't think you could be further from the truth. :p

If Bex was around Games summer of 2001/2002, she would have realised that my post was a joke, perhaps it just wasn't funny to her.

Can't please everyone half the time and sure as hell can't please half of the people all of the time.

    ?[face_plain]

    :p ;) :D

    SW games I'd (seriously) recommend.

    Jedi Knight.
    Mysteries of the Sith.
    X-Wing Alliance.
    Force Commander.
and I guess Jedi Outcast, though I havn't played it.

I'll stand up and admit that I enjoyed Rebel Assault, and Rebel Assault 2 :D

FMV games were a short fad in the mid 90s, before polygon based games took over. I still think that RA and RA2 are the closest you get to actually being in a SW movie.

Ok, ok, the gameplay is slighty green, but it is varied enough to get you to come back, if only to see the next video sequence. Some of the levels are rock-hard, and you'll do well to complete the game without cheating.

    anyways, *I* liked it :p

If I remember correctly back in the day you could buy a compendium of all of the LucasArts SW titles (RA, RA2, X-Wing, X-Wing Vs Tie-Fighter, Dark Forces and something else I can't remember) for about $20. Its worth it to give them all a try - check out ebay or something :)

Oh, that reminds me - Dark Forces is a reasonable game, even if there are no lightsabres :)

    "Halt Rebel Scum!"
