LOTR should have won three years in a row, not this one Oscar for three films crap.

"Fellowship of the Ring losing to A Beautiful Mind and The Two Towers losing to Chicago for Best Picture 2001" - hands down.

The real travesty IMHO is that A Beautiful Mind and Chicago weren't even Best Picture material (good flicks but not THAT good) - in two years with little competition LotR should have wiped the floor with A Beautiful Mind and Chicago. An Oscar for Return of the King just doesn't make up for it either (and, though I may gain flack for this, I actually thought RotK was the weakest of the three LotR films).

The first two LOTR followed by an Other choice. Shakespeare in Love over not Private Ryan, but Elizabeth.

Fellowship and Two Towers should have won in my opinion. They lost to decent films, but not films that jumped out at me as "Best Picture" over LOTR.

    Saving Private Ryan is overrated.

A huge Oscar snub was Lost in Translation losing to Return of the King. What a bore the latter film is/was.

Thanks for making it a poll droideka! I think it is a good idea because people are always complaining about the Academy's decisions.

Here are some options for Other (You may not remember them and I didn't have any more room in the poll to include them. It may also be a good idea to list your top 10 worst snubs.)
    - Empire Strikes Back not nominated for Best Picture 1980
    - Ian McKellen losing to Jim Broadbent for Best Supporting Actor in Fellowship of the Ring 2001
    - John Williams not winning more Oscars for his scores (Empire Strikes Back, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Return of the Jedi, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Superman, etc.)
    - Alec Guinness not winning Best Supporting Actor for Star Wars 1977
    - Gone With the Wind not winning Best Original Score 1939
    - Clark Gable not winning Best Actor for Gone With the Wind 1939
    - Helen Hunt winning Best Actress over Kate Winslet and Judy Dench 1997
    - The Greatest Show on Earth winning Best Picture over notable films 1952
    - Titanic over L.A. Confidential, Good Will Hunting, and As Good As It Gets 1997 (Though I do not think this is snub, many people do and I am listing it.)

Annie Hall is not even the best Woody Allen film.

Also, ROTK is #3 of the LOTR films for me as well.

How Green Was My Valley is a good film, but Citizen Kane is a monster of a film.

Of these, I voted for Citizen Kane losing. How... just.... how?

But some of the worst Oscar snubs also include Anthony Perkins not even being nominated for his phenominal performance in Psycho and Ewan McGregor being just about the only person not nominated for Moulin Rouge when he really should have been. And the fact that Chicago got all of Moulin Rouge's Oscars a year later when voters recovered from the shell shock of seeing a new musical movie.

I don't remember who the other candidates were when Titanic won all those oscars, but whoever they were, they were more oscar worthy. Titanic should never have won even one oscar.

    Ridiculous.

Lost in Translation was a totally boring film. ROTK deserved to win.
