what will become of Ferus Olin?

Hes one of my favorite Jedi(hes still a jedi even if he doesnt call himself one) and I was hoping for speculation on his fate.

 

Dies and has a cheap funeral.

He should become one of the many killed by Vader.

 

hopfully he'll get to hang out on that asteroid colony till the empires overthrown

 

He'll follow the trend and have a child. or adopt hungry orphans.

 

He will be eaten. By a rancor. And that will be eaten by Kyle Katarn.

Well, he needs a Legacy too!

 

Maybe he'll give birth to a Bantam character.

 

If he can do that, then the GFFA's medical tech is really advanced.

 

He'll become Vader's secret apprentice.

Wow - an idea for the Apprentice's identity that doesn't suck...

 

He and Drake will fight over who gets to be Vader's Secret Apprentice.

The looser will become Darth Krayt, who will vow to take his revenge upon the Empire one day.

 

He will become the first, relatively important character in SW, who is openly gay. His relationship with Roan Lands is like from some old book from time when homosexuality was a taboo. It´s true nature is relatively strongly hinted at, but not admitted openly. Ferus even does not have the necessary love interest of the opposite sex in the series to prove his heterosexual credentials.

What will be his fate? He will die a heroic death fighting against Vader, congratulating himself that he did not fall to the Dark Side like that weak nobody Anakin Skywalker.

 

The problem with Jedi after ROTS is that they all go one of three ways:

1) They get killed by the Inquisitorius/Vader/Stormtroopers
2) They go Dark (often staying dark or redeeming themselves by betraying the Empire and getting killed)
3) They change their names and run off to hide and mope (which rarely works, since they're usually bound to be found and killed later)

It seems obvious Ferus is going to follow one of these patterns. If Watson found a way to get around these (or possibly make a new twist on one), Ferus's fate might actually interest me. But at the rate he's going, I'd say he's on the quick path to #2.

 

Oooooh Gary Stu accusations. No one's saying Anakin's a nobody, but it certainly wasn't his strength of character that led him to the dark side.

It's pretty clear in these books that Ferus has come a long way from being a snot nosed foil.

 

Speaking of Ferus, I noticed this on his talk page at Wookieepedia....

There are strong indications throughout the "Last of the Jedi" series that Ferus and Roan have the first non-heterosexual relationship portrayed in the Star Wars universe. I know I'm not the first one to bring it up. Should this issue be touched upon in any way in the article?Chrisstansfield 12:01, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

It's made pretty clear in the most recent book, Secret Weapon that Ferus and Roan are more than 'just friends' or business partners. I'm glad to see LFL allowed Watson to go so far with the portrayal. And yeah, that would make them the first gay couple in Star Wars. I imagine, though, that it can't be explicitly stated because it's listed as a "young readers" book. At any rate, it should be listed under speculation. thesithempire 17 March 2007

I haven't read it - I own it, I just haven't finished it - but I seriously doubt that the first homosexual character would pop up in a children's book. Why can't they just be very important to one another?

Guys are so insecure.

 

It is implied that Juhani and that one Jedi chick on Dantooine (the one that yells at you for not wearing a Jedi robe) were more than "just frineds" so it probably wouldn't be the first homosexual relationship in Star Wars. However, it is kind of surprising that this is in a young readers book. Kind of cool actually. I've never really understood why a homosexual relationship was considered more inappropriate to show to kids than a heterosexual one.

 

Because when you're a kid you already know about male/female relationships. Learning about homosexuality tends to come around later, and since people have deferring opinions about it, you can't just put it into things like SW completely willy-nilly. No one argues about heterosexual relationships, so they're safe.
