What would you like to see out of the "perfect" Star Wars game?

Describe a gaming experience you really want out of Star Wars.

I've always wanted a game that sits somewhere in between Star Wars: Galaxy at war and Star Wars: Battlefront

I feel like the skeleton is already there in these games. Building fleets to fight space battles and escort transports with ground forces on the GAW side, having a handful of classes and having ground transports represent a certain number of reinforcements from the BF side.

But naturally I couldn't just stop there. I want players to be able to crew bigger warships and load squadrons of fighters to haul them through hyperspace. I want a galaxy of like maybe ten planets that start as neutral, and that the Empire and New Republic fight over. And I want thousands of players turned loose to build huge arsenals and go to war over territory.

It's a lot to ask players to drive that much of the game play, but I fully expect that before long teams of players would be throwing movie sized task forces at each other.

Anyway that's an idea for a game that would put a smile on my face. What's yours?

My Idea for the perfect star wars game would be where you train as a jedi Rpg style where you are trained as a youngling then you find your lightsaber crystal on Ilum compete in an apprentice tournament to be selected by a master go on missions and eventually become a knight with the ultimate objective of becoming a jedi master

and it would take place during the era after the exar kun war where it is relitivly peaceful

For me, it'd be a story-driven role-playing game set during the Galactic Civil War, with Rebel, Imperial, and fringe factions, and limited (but impactful) use of the Force and major pre-existing characters.

    Original Era = Best Era
I've always wished for a Clone Wars tier cartoon set between Episodes IV and V

A game in the scope of Skyrim with a few heavily detailed planets and space locations to visit. An action, open-world RPG, to put it another way.

A game like KOTOR but with the option of wasting an infinite amount of time interacting with the environment and its objects and not actually getting the main quest at hand done any time soon because you're too busy exploring a planet and finding random side quests to do.

This is a really interesting one-as there are a lot of options.

I have two or maybe three ideas.

A single player story-potentially with a grey jedi or some other relatively independent character, doing adventures and missions. It could have a Bioware style morality scale, and an overarching plot, but with plenty of side content.

A strategy based game-could be set in various eras, mostly fleet action, ground invasions, etc… would focus less on individual characters and more on battles, strategy, logistics, Stellaris or total war basically.

An open world game-could be set again in various eyes, but with multiple character options that are customizable. Missions, side content, RPG elements galore.

All of these could if executed well, be the “perfect” Star Wars game.

This is another that I want pretty bad. Star Wars: Rebellion has all of this going on, but the game is old and the UI is very unfriendly. But it's a game where you battle for control of about ten systems each made of nine planets. The player has to manage production, logistics, and combat. Unique characters are abound, but they're pretty small compared with the bigger picture. Think Empire at War but much much deeper.

Basically a Grand Strategy Game in the vein of Total War or the Paradox Games. Maybe like a Hearts of Iron in Space, with massive focus trees for every faction allowing tons of alt history especially when it comes to the various minor factions. Have Isolder marry Daala and forge a Hapan Empire, restore the Pius Dea with Eriadu, turn Neimodia democratic and spread the fruits of market liberalism, reunify the Empire with any warlord of your choice. Play every one against each other as Nom Anor to ensure he comes out on top during the Vong War, have Darth Cadeus crush not only the Confederacy but also Abeloth, the Lost Tribe and even Krayt. The possibilities are endless...

Ideally also adding more and more start dates streching the entirty of the SW Timeline.
And of course I would also include my OCs and Fanon factions in it.

I'd like lots of customization for starships, including different classes of starships and the possibility to create a custom starship that could have a balance between classes, or lean more into each class...or combine two classes of starships.

And the possibility for random encounters while traveling in space to encounter space pirates, maybe the ability to select a faction which will determine which pirates or military forces engage you, or if you change factions or desert a faction, or go rogue are also factors to determine enemies.

I think SWTOR's gameplay is about as close to KOTOR's as an MMO could get, what with the lack of pausing.

A Mass Effect style adventure game with a morality system, speech checks, romance options, a cast of colorful supporting characters, and a customizable protagonist could be incredible if done well.

  16. Mass Effect Star Wars its practically SWTOR

I wouldn't mind a "LA Noir" style of game set in the Hutt Cartel or Black Sun; just a straight crime series of games with no force users or battle of light versus darkness to speak of. A game where it's about the criminals and smugglers who have their own adventures in the vast sea of Rebels and Imperials.

Yeah that goes into the direction I would want. Though I would like have more in the way of politics and diplomacy(which of course in Tharwns Revenge is nonexistant), and in general more factions.

The perfect Star Wars game to me would be a combination of what made the game below cool:
    - Star Wars Rogue Squadron I-III = cool starfighters story missions + map design
    - SWBF2 (2005) = Map selection with alternate locations
    - SWBF (EA 2015) = Map Environment Graphics + Sound Design
    - SWBF2 (EA 2017) = Class Selection + Skin Selection + Hero Gameplay + Vehicular controls
    - PlanetSide 2 = Continental Warzone Maps
    - SWTOR = Character Creation + World Variety

For me, it would be an RPG like KotOR, but with a better combat system, combining the acrobatics-heavy style of Jedi Academy with the Dark Souls-influenced style of Fallen Order, and featuring a wide variety of force powers and lightsaber moves

Think I'd like to see a game that's kind of a mix of Sins of a Solar Empire and Homeworld 2, set during the Galactic Civil War. It's not about building up a fleet and conquering the galaxy. Instead you've got an Imperial player who has to defend assets spread across a sector...troop garrisons and supply depots, etc. The Rebel player is tasked with inflicting as much damage on those assets as possible. The Imperial player has far more ships available, but doesn't know where the Rebels are located, while the Rebel player uses his smaller fleet to conduct hit-and-run attacks on the Imperial assets, and then trying to get out before the Imperial player can respond. The Rebel player gets points for how much damage he inflicts on Imperial assets and how much of his fleet is still alive at the end of the round, while the Imperial player gets points for how many assets are still intact at the end of the round and for how much damage he inflicts on the Rebel fleet.

I liked how the N64 Shadows of the Empire was designed to feel like one of the movies with its linear progression and variety of shooting/platforming levels, ground vehicle chases, and flying missions. I've often dreamed of expanding that with elements of the Jedi Knight and Rogue Squadron series - and maybe some added noncombat areas like KotOR.

Military simulator set in the Clone Wars, or Sith Wars.
I played the TCW Empire at War mod and would love a dedicated game that tries to capture the scale of the conflict.
