What's with all the breakfast food commercials that say "a good part of a balanced breakfast"?

"Reeses Puffs," for example: it has to be one of the worst sugar-loaded pieces of crap one can eat for breakfast, yet the company has the nerve to advertise it as part of a "balanced breakfast."

They say "it's just like the candy" and have these overenthusiastic children bouncing off the walls. At the end of almost every kids' cereal/waffle commercial, the screen shows the unhealthy food next to a piece of fruit, toast and a glass of milk; either the overenthusiastic kids or the mistreated cartoon character is voiced over, saying the stuff that's "just like candy" is somehow healthy. Do they really expect the kids to go up to their parents and say, "I want Reeses Puffs because it's part of a balanced breakfast"?

It's true. They say "part of this complete/balanced breakfast" and for about one second they show a clip of the sugar-coated crap they are advertising surrounded by bran muffins, waffles, orange juice, bacon, sausage, and toast. Now if you ate all that, it might be a complete/balanced breakfast, but hardly anybody ever does that. that is, they don't eat the other components that would make it a healthy breakfast. It's beyond me why people buy that stuff if it's not healthy.
    I'm glad I don't have a TV.

I've never understood how a small bowl of cereal is less good for you and more fattening than a small bowl of cereal coupled with eggs, bacon, sausages, toast, silly muffins, milk, orange juice, some tea and an apple. This doesn't add up.

Grape Nuts are rewarding when you finish a bowl.

It's not even wise to have orange juice with cereal in the morning cause of the interaction between the acids and bases.

Breakfast is too confusing. They're always talking about vitamins this, most important meal that--that's why I just sleep until noon and then have lunch when I wake up.

Angel_Jedi_Master - Grape Nuts are rewarding if you can finish the bowl. I think they were invented by dentists as a form of job security. (But they ARE tasty.)

I drank lemonade with my cereal once. Needless to say, I didn't feel so good afterwards :p
