That's okay Andrew. It's only play money. Not like you'd do that in rl huh?

*puts on list of really bad bad people* :p

YOu know, I really hate MOnoply and yet I've been gifted a a couple SW versions and a LOTR one. Gets boring after the first go around the the board.

Master of Jacens I must inform you that by making this thread you have left yourself open to any number of charges from the International Monopoly Board of Control. The most serious charge that will, no doubt, be levelled at you is that of Messing the Game up for Everyone Else. The International Monopoly Board of Control will throw the book at you, Master of Jacens, in pursuit of a conviction. If you do not get a mod to edit and lock this thread pretty soon, you will be done for. DONE FOR! The International Monopoly Board of Control have a crack legal team, and you are an Internet poster. This is it. This is the looking glass. Do not go in Master of Jacens, do not go in.

    *phew*

    I can post again.

Anyways, isn't this how everyone plays Monopoly? My house plays no hold barred. You can steal properties (from players), money, etc. if they are not looking/paying attention.

I remember when I used to play monopoly with my family members. Our mother wouldn't allow any of us to break 100s into 50s, 20s, etc... or put five 20s, ten 10s, etc.. into 100s or five 100s into a 500. My oldest brother was the one with the "you know why they call them "bored" games?" philosophy and only grudgingly played when the rest of the family was. My other brother was the one always trying to exchange bills. And my dad was always the one who called a winner halfway through the game and said, "Oh, god, please, why can't we end it now? You won! Look, he's won, already? Okay? We done yet?"

And I was the little rascal who threw a fit when he was losing, and always rubbed it in nice and good when he was winning.

BTW, this thread gives me an idea.

I like the rules in the board game Illuminati.

You are allowed to cheat.... so long as you don't get caught. [face_whistling]

In my experience, those people who pooh-pooh the idea of playing a board game when the opportunity arises are the ones who secretly enjoy it the most (at least, relative to their public stance). Every August bank holiday my family has a large enough get-together to have a big game of Pictionary. I love it, but my Dad purports to hate it. However when we're playing, and the heat is on, you can see he's really enjoying himself. It's ace.

I guess it'd be a bad time to mention that I also fix the dice to where they'll land on the number of spaces I need.

you think stealing money is bad.

thats easy. Thats what I did when I played my sister in law and her sister.

But here's the kicker, the two were playing me for a idiot as one would compete with me in auctions with the other sister for property. I would buy properties as enormous prices that ended costly twice as much. Of course I was stealing but that didnt matter. It was the fact that they played me for a chump.

Ahhhh! You are exactly like my younger sister- except she is extremely obvious when she takes the money. Then my older sister and I do a "citizen's arrest" and send her to the jail square for like 10 turns or something ridiculous.

Also, we do this thing where we play "no mercy", which means that if you land on someone's square and they don't specifically ask you for rent, and the next person rolls, you don't have to pay. Which leads to lots of random alliances about "rolling fast".

And don't even come around when we play Risk.....it's insaaaane.

Sometimes when I play and I'm not the banker I just tell him I am robbing the bank, as would happen in real life. Then I take stuff and mix it with my own really fast so nobody can tell which bills were mine to begin with. :D

I also enjoy a good game of Risk...I can play that stuff for days. Usually people get so sick of it they forfeit to me.
