Basically, in Star Wars, it seems that the humans are the predominant species in teh galaxy, stretchinga ll over the place, on planets all over the galaxy, while every other species is basically a minority. I'd guesstimate that humans alone are, say 50% of the population of sentient beings in the galaxy. so is it ever explained where they (or we) originated from, or how they grew to be so numerous? Or possibly where the different ethnicities (white, black[Mace Windu, Lando Calrissian], Latino [Jango & Boba Fett]) come from? Just wondering?

    Slimy!

What if Jango Fett were not latino, instead he is Mandalorian?

What if there was a whole planet of dark skinned Kouranni, Mace's race?

As far as I know the explanations for so many humanoids is the GFFA can be explained in the various RPG guides & source manuals.

I'm just remembering the idiotic accusations that Lucas was "racist," with people citing the fact that the clones were a bunch of Latinos. Damn, Morrison doesn't look he's from South or Central America nor does he have an accent that fits with any of those countries.

IIRC something I read said the humans were from either Corellia or Coruscant. It makes sense cause those seem to be the most earthlike planets.

Actually, it's not Coruscant. Because the Taungs were there thousands of years before humans.

It's not Corellia, despite the planet having a mostly human population. Also, the system appears to be artificial in its origins.

My money would be on Earth...

    You all remember that Star Wars spin-off film called E.T., don't you? 8-}

Timetales says that humans only colonized the Core-- they didn't originate there. I'd say that GFFA humans are either from some remote part of the Outer Rim (Earth is on the Outer Rim of the Milky Way, after all) or they're extragalactic.

It was Robert J. Sawyer -- hard-SF writer extraordinaire, to whom the field owes a debt for The Terminal Experiment and (to a slightly lesser extent) Starplex -- who spent 1994 and 1995 working with LFL on a SW series which would've in fact CONFIRMED that humanity originated on Earth.

However, due to various internal reasons (one major reason I have on very good authority from several connected sources was that George decided not to give the project the greenlight), it was scuttled, but you can in fact read a number of sample chapters from the series online:

Essentially, a group of humans flee a repressive 25th Century Earth aboard a slower-than-c generation ship, intent on colonizing nearby stars. Through a freak interstellar accident, they get sent back millions of years to the GFFA...in fact, they are the first humans in the Star Wars galaxy altogether.

From them, all humans in the SW saga would have descended.

    Mr. Sawyer's preface:

A note from Rob (2003) [this note appears at the beginning of both the sample chapters and the outline]:

In 1994, Ace Books ?- which had just finished publishing my Quintaglio Ascension trilogy ?- asked me to write a trilogy of novels outlining the origins of the races that make up the Star Wars universe.

At that time, Ace was still negotiating the details of a licensing agreement with Lucasfilm, and it looked like I'd be able to use the actual alien races that had appeared in the original trilogy of Star Wars films (A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi). I wrote a 10,000-word outline for the first novel, which I was going to call Alien Exodus, and 12,000 words of sample chapters.

I had never been keen on doing work-for-hire media tie-ins, but my then-agent urged me to give this project a try. So I wrote a 10,000-word outline for the first novel and the following 12,000 words of sample chapters.

However, there were considerable delays in finalizing the details of the licensing agreement with Lucasfilm. By the time the book contracts were ready for my signature, it had been established that I couldn't use any of the actual races from Star Wars, and so I bowed out of the project.

Ultimately, Ace brought in writer Deborah Chester to produce the books. She, of course, started from scratch, and created her own trilogy with all new aliens; these books were published under the umbrella title Lucasfilm Alien Chronicles.

Below are the opening chapters I wrote for the novel; also available is the outline I wrote. [...]

...And you can read the rest of it from there.

According to Marvel 84, the homeworld for humanity in the Star Wars galaxy is a planet called Notron.
