Are TIE fighters actually capable of hyperspace travel? Obi Wan says they are not. So where does Darth Vader actually go? You see his TIE spinning out of control but what next?

It's possible that he hooked up with a Star Destroyer that was somewhere in the area by sending out a distress signal.

His helmet probally made it possible for him to stay in space a bit longer. An imperial ship would have know about the death star being destroyed and probally found him while on their way to investigate.

I dont like the whole Death Star battle. There is about 10 fighters including TIEs. It seems to remote for such a huge battlestation

Or, more simply, he probably sent a distress signal himself from the TIE after the DS was destroyed. A star destroying was probably there within minutes.

Vader's TIE fighter was actually a TIE Advanced x1 Starfighter and was equipped with a hyperdrive.

After he drunk himself into a stupor and cried himself all out, he went back to work...

In the PC game Galactic Battlegrounds, he goes back to what he does best: Hunting Jedi down and killing Rebels...

His fighter jumps to hyperspace and limps it's way to a crash landing on a jungle planet, where Vader subsequently makes his way to an Imperial outpost on that planet and takes a shuttle from there back to Coruscant.

General Tagge, Colonel Veers, and some other smart Imperials on board the Death Star figured out what the Rebel fighters were trying to do and got off the station. They even tried to warn Tarkin "We analyzed their attack pattern and there is a danger, shall I have your shuttle ready?" The the over confident Tarkin replied "Evacuate in our moment of triumph, I fear your estimate their chances." After pleading to Tarkin with this, Chief Bass was probably like well you can stay here and die, I'm outta hear.

Some Imperials did abandon the Death Star and one would assume Darth Vader/Anakin linked up with them. Like said before, Vader was flying an Tie Advanced equiped with hyperspace, so he could of easily flown to any Imperial location, if not Courascant.

    Vader's prototype TIE was hyperspace-capable.

If I remember right this is in a comic... and is absolutely hilarious whether you like EU are not. Generally its accepted that he had a TIE with a hyperdrive, since his was quite a bit different than the others about.

That's because Tarkin didn't order any fighters launched. None. Zero.

The only fighters that engage the rebels are Darth Vader and his personal squadron.

    Tarkin overesimated his stations defenses.

Wans't this explained in the original novel? The Executer ends up picking him up a few days later after a distress call much like the call Obi-1 put in in ROTS.

Days? I guess the suit might take care of water and elimination issues within certain limits. And I suppose the TIE might have had reserve oxygen and/or an atmosphere recycler. Still, that seems like a long time to be in a seated position.

As far as i remember the Tie-fighters are open - i.e. there is no air in them - thats why the pilots have to ware the special helmets with the hoses. - if that is true - and we clearly see that vader does not have special hoses stuck in his helmet - this means he can rely only on his own life support system - one bad mother he is ... :)

Nope, the original novel didn't explain this- and especially didn't have the Executor in it as that ship wasn't create duntil they made ESB (not to mention, in-universe, the Executor didn't launch until 6 months after Yavin).

Maybe he was picked up by a supply ship heading that direction. Even Death Stars need supplies, don't they? And considering the fact that Vader's TIE is a custom job like the Millennium Falcon, who's to say it doesn't have a hyperdrive?
