    Spoiler.

Because we dont see young Rotta in Jabbas throne room area or anywhere at all, i'll bet that Rott might have emerged years afterwards to get revenge on Luke and Leia Skywalker for Jabba's death and the destruction of Jabbas criminal empire, because in Dark Empire the heirs of Jabba the Hutt have placed quite a huge price on Luke and Leia's heads, along with Han Solo and Chewie, this was mostly due to Zorba the hutt Jabbas father wanting revenge but i think that Rotta would have also been vengefull too.

Butt Edit: First, you posted a spoiler. Second, this thread is about an EU character that was developed after ROTJ, so it makes logical sense that he would not appear in ROTJ, and discussion of this character should take place in the appropriate forums.

Rotta is presumably elsewhere in ROTJ (if he is still alive) but that has yet to be determined. In the EU Jabba's will stated that he had no children and so his estate was left to his father Zorba. That could point to Rotta being dead by the time of ROTJ. However, there are undoubtedly retcons that could be enacted to maintain the truth of that whilst keeping Rotta alive, ie perhaps Jabba had disowned him.

The simple answer is that the character Rotta was created after ROTJ.

The hutts are hermaphadites? I could've sworn there was a quick glimpse of a female hut in one the Prequel movies.....

Like everyone already stated, Rotta was created after ROTJ. Also, Zorba was left with Jabba's estate, his business and his investments. Rotta could've died, could've dipped out into the outer rim, could've been arrested or disowned.

Maybe Rotta doesn't make it. Perhaps a rival actually does kill Jabba's son sometime between the CW movie and ROTJ. Or maybe Rotta is slitherin' around and decides to check out the Rancor Pit unsupervised...

Sublime: They swap back and forth between female and male phases. All this and many more disgusting facts about Hutt sexuality can be found in the Han Solo Trilogy. :p

I can see the Jabba-Rotta relationship being a bit like the relationship between Tony Soprano and AJ Soprano. Perhaps Rotta is so useless as a potential crimelord that Jabba doesn't want to leave his massive criminal empire to him. As I recall, his suspected heir was a Hutt named Jelasi, so obviously Rotta wasn't in the frame.

There's also the theory that the "will" in ZTHR was a forgery.

Jabba could also disown his son, saying that he had no children in a rather more metaphoric sense
