It was the best but I didn't want him to die! Damn it! Why did he have to die!

I sincerely find the ewok death to be the most moving one so far in a Star Wars film.

I voted for the Shmi dying in her son's arms because I loved the music cue in the soundtrack right then. I get chills seeing Anakin responding to it. And, I love the whole fact that he killed all the tusken raiders because of it!! It's awesome!! Although Obi killing Maul was a close second!

I think Anakin's death scene in RotJ was the most poignant and moving of all. And it's really about what the entire saga is about anyway, right? In fact, that death in the novelization brought a tear to my eye (the first and last time that's ever happened to me while watching a book, movie, etc.).

Obi-Wan's death is emotionally kick-in-the-guts. Just think about the look he's giving to Luke. Terrific. And the calm, and the- I don't particularly like Obi-Wan as a character, but the impressive Sir Alec Guinness' acting does give you creeps...

I think that Obi-wan's death is the best scene. I remember seeing A New Hope way back when I was a little kid and I remember being in the same state of disbelief that Luke was in. Obi-wan's death had a very big impact on my life.

His death brough profound questions to my young mind. Like why did he allow Vader to kill him? How will he become more powerfull?
He had no fear of death could I be like that? What is the afterlife? I wonder if there are real knights/warriors that could make such a sacrafice?

Through questing those answers more did I find.

The deaths of Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, and Yoda are all very sad. I voted for Anakin's death. It's amazing to think that a Sith Lord like Darth Vader could be a hero in the end by saving his son. Anakin's death is very sad because we don't get to see what he would have done with the rest of his life. But it is also very good that he saved himself and his son in the end.

I'd have to go with Anakin's. Was a very emotional scene, and when I read the novelization...that was the only time I almost cried when reading a book.

Even though Palpatine's explosion was great, I'll have to go with Anakin's death.

I have always found Shmi's death the most emotional. Anakin made a promise to his mother to save her from slavery, he didn't get the chance and now he only had a few seconds with his mother before she died... :(

The action Anakin takes after her death is understandable.

I voted for Obi-Wan's death "scene". It's such a pivotal point in ANH & the saga.

I would say Yoda's was close emotionally. Palpy's was visually as good a scene (of course, it's the climax of the trilogy! :p). And Anakin's death is the end of the saga. I like the funeral pyre scene better as a "farewell" to Vader/Anakin from Luke.

    All very close, though.

I know I voted for Anakin but I was always choked up by the death of Biggs in the trench run, even before I read the novel and found out how good of friends he and Luke were on Tatooine.

I voted for Vader/Anakin's death scene though I think Qui-Gon's was almost as good. I thin Qui-Gon's is especially memorable since he's the first major character to die with the audience knowing that it's not the end of a trilogy.
