Yeah, I would like an answer to this one, if there is one yet. Some say one of the planets was Coruscant but I beg to differ. I don't think it was otherwise it would have made a bigger impact on the story, I think. Do we know which planets got hit by Starkiller's blast or is it still only speculation?

    The Hosnian System's planets

The one we see before destruction is Hosnian Prime

Yeah, not Coruscant. It does look a bit too similar though, if you ask me. When I saw the film for the first time, I got this really sinking feeling in my heart because I thought it was Coruscant that was unceremoniously destroyed. Thankfully it wasn't.

Yeah, I've wondered this too... So far we only know one of the five planets destroyed - Hosnian Prime!

I wonder if Optimus, Rodimus or Sentinel were among the deceased...

Besides Hosnian Prime, there was the hillbilly planet, Hossnian. The German planet full of beaches, Hoffnian. The planet of dog-people, Pawsnian. And we cannot forget about the planet where Nicolas Cage is from, Godsnian.

It's a damn shame they destroyed the hillbilly planet. It had so much storytelling potential!

Eh the leader of that planet wanted to build a wall around the SKB and make the FO pay for it.

In the cinema on opening night, I thought it was Coruscant for twenty minutes or so, when the name of the system was mentioned.
I think it would have been very powerful from a storytelling perspective if it had been the case, though I think that it might have been a bit controversial behind the scenes to go that way, as destroying arguably the most iconic prequel specific location may have come over as a direct attack on the prequels themselves

This has been asked and answered. Without further info on the planets in question, there's nothing more to discuss. Locking.
