Courtship Of Princess Leia has pretty solid romance, iirc. I, Jedi is another-nothing says romantic swashbuckling like that does. Avoid the Callista trilogy, where Luke falls in love with an angry email application.

    Vision of the Future.

The X-Wing series, surprisingly, has a lot of romance.

There was a bit of romance in a number of stories in Tales anthology series.

As for Darth Bane... Haven't read it yet, so I can't say.

Not really. There's some sexual attraction, but no romance. It is about the Sith and love is for the weak and all that stuff.

There was a very well-done romance in The Cestus Deception. It initially gave me the impression of a cliched and not-at-all-interesting "Can a clone fall in love????" plotline, but by the end I found myself completely engrossed with it.

Well, I'll restrict it to books with substantial, well-written, or otherwise interesting romance in them. You've got X-wing, the New Jedi Order, the Hand of Thrawn duology (which benefits heavily from having read The Thrawn Trilogy), the Han Solo Trilogy, the Courtship of Princess Leia, and the Cestus Deception for pretty straight romance, The Truce at Bakura for romance that never quite leads up to a romantic relationship, and The Han Solo Adventures for girl-of-the-week romance. Death Star and MedStar also feature some romance. Plus there are a ton of comics with romance.

"I'm a person and my name is Anakin"-- err, I mean... for inter-species love, I recommend Nightlily: The Lovers' Tale.

Well, given my opinions about A/P, um, pretty much all of them except the ones that are actually romantic.

I always took The Crystal Star to be about Waru's love for Luke.

I didn't think Vision of the Future was terribly romantic. All I remember was Luke suddenly having the realization that he loved Mara and proposing. Despite the complete lack of a past dating-style relationship.

For romance though, go with Union. It's a TPB, not a novel, but still romancy and cute.

Vision is not a traditional romance. But then again, these are not traditional characters. You slowly see them taking down all their barriers, having conversations they've been putting off for years, and finally becoming comfortable with each other - enough for Mara break down crying in front of Luke, something that would previously have seemed preposterous. Their bond slowly grows throughout the book until it finally blossoms at the end, with the realization that they are two halves of a single whole. It's very easy to go through the book and come to the conclusion that Luke's proposal comes out of nowhere, but it doesn't, and every re-reading of Vision brings me a better appreciation of that "romance." (And this is coming from someone who's read the L/M sections of that book more times than I can count.)

As for Union - I love that comic because it's pure cheese and Luke's bachelor party is awesome and the panel of the Jedi wedding makes me want to hug them tight, but the romance is pure schmaltz.

It's actually got the classic we-don't-realize-we're-in-love element going for it that has driven many a romance novel. People see "romance" and think mush, which isn't really what Star Wars or even many romance novels deliver, when really it's romantic tension. The Bantam era seemed to be better at delivering that.

The NJO actually had quite a bit of this. Anakin/Tahiri, Jaina/Jag, Jacen and well a few ladies. Rebel Dream, Rebel Stand, Ylesia stand out in my mind. Dark Nest and Legacy of the Force should be dubbed the Romantic Vacuum Era so don't read it if romance is what you want.

On the Bane books - I'm not sure romance really fits in a book focused on a Sith, unless it's a side plot. Sith are egomaniacs and evil. Not that they can't love, but they will always love themselves more than anyone else. Then it all becomes too intimately tied up in perverse notions of love and sex, which are pretty tough subjects to pull off tactfully. (*looks at the mess created with Jacen/Caedus's exploits)

Best books by far for the action/romance one/two punch are the X-wing novels.

If you're willing to try comics, then Legacy has delivered plenty of Star Wars style romance, with multiple couples that cater to a variety of tastes - Imperial Knights, princesses, scoundrels - even with its heavier storyline. (Yeah, if only they were going to more of that.)

Luke falls in love with a disembodied Jedi woman living in a computer in Children of the Jedi.

Which is as ridiculous as it sounds.
