    My guess:
    - Cliegg's first wive (the mother of Owen)

    and
    - dead baby/child? (since the stone is much smaller)
    - some pet?

The second one could be Cliegg's mother.

I'll admit the leg joke was hilarious when I first heard it.
It kinda wore thin after seeing it for the thousandth time though. So bless you YodaJeff for beating everybody to the punch! [face_love]

Maybe the big one was his first wife and the small one was his high school sweetheart? ;)

I wonder if they made a grave to R5?

The small one isn't for his leg. Those Tusken Dog things are playing with his leg when Anakin infiltrates the camp site.

Well probably Cliegg's first wife and the second a pet or child. Who knows.

"Those Tusken Dog things are playing with his leg when Anakin infiltrates the camp site"

Not necessarily. If it had been around a month, then the leg would have been picked clean by then. Also, since "thirty of us went out after her, four of us came back," there would be plenty of other possible bones for the mastiffs to be playing with.

Come on that was a joke. Who would bury his leg? [face_laugh]

Besides "He would have gone after it....but after he lost his leg....he just couldn't ride any more."

The first one is probably Owen's mother. I have no clue about the other. I doubt it's a pet though. You don't bury your dog next to your wife you either really liked that pet, or you didn't have a very good relationship with your wife. :p

Check out the "Inside the worlds of epII"
    for answers.

I do not remember exaxtly, but i think
    it´s Cliegg´s first wife,
and the other is Owen´s brother who died in a speeder accident.

Do you think it is possible that it is one of Cliegg and Shmi's children together? I mean, Anakin was gone for a while.

    First grave, Gredda and Lef.
Second, Cliegg or Owen´s brother (can´t remember which), who died at age 14 when he crashed with the family´s speeder.

What I've always wondered is were these grave markers ever visible in A New Hope?

Of course I'm not saying that George Lucas had the graves planned when filmed back in the 1970's but were there some stones shown in the sand anywhere back in ANH that could now be assumed as the same graves?

    Just wondering.

Seriously folks, I think one grave has to be Cliegg's first wife. The second could be one of many things such as:

    - Cliegg's mom or dad
    - A child of Cliegg's that passed away
    - Cliegg's grandparent

It will be interesting if Lucas puts these graves in the Archive Editions of ANH.

There are possible reasons why the grave markers aren't in ANH.

First, someone once said that they're always off camera. I never took the time to verify that, so I don't know if it's true.

Second, it's possible that a sandstorm knocked them over, or buried them.

Finally, Owen and Beru could have removed the grave markers so that young Luke wouldn't ask as many questions about his grandmother, or her tragic death.

That's a good point about removing them to prevent Luke asking too many questions.

Though if they do end up appearing in ANH (and to be honest I've never watched the scenes to specifically see if the graves are there) then by the time of Episode 4 there may possibly be an extra grave for Cliegg considering he's nowhere to be seen in ANH.
