Who is Sypher Dias?

I'm sure this has come up before but who is Sypher Dias (please excuse spelling?). Having watched Revenge of the Sith i assumed he'd be explained as he was talked about in AOTC, but he wasn't. I just wondered if he was part of the expanded universe as i've never read any of the books. Thanks.

 

He was actually a jedi named Sifo Dias. I ebelieve Palpy told him to go order the clones, than Dooku killed him and took his place

Labyrinth Of Evil has a few lines on Sifo Dias - made me understand the whole remark in AotC much better (hope it doesn't take that long to get things from RotS

he was a Jedi that foresaw the need for the army, and ordered them without telling the council. Palpatine had Dooku kill him (as Dooku's first act as a Sith) and also erase Kamino from the archives. Palpatine also foresaw the need of the army, but let the Jedi discover that need only when they needed to find out (ie the saber dart).

one of the best passages of a book ever, very frantic and fun to read.

 

I had assumed that it was merely the Kaminoan's attempt at saying Sidious... hmmm

 

... and then Obi-Wan came with the fact that existed a true jedi master Syfo-Dyas indeed ???

Is weird but I like it.

Actually Sifo has a surviving sister who's into modeling and acting.
