I was just perusing the JC icons and under the EU section there is a guy named Xanatos, but I can't place the name or the face. Is he from the ongoing series or some other comic?
Qui-Gon's first apprentice, IIRC. He left and turned to the Dark Side after Qui-Gon slew his father during a revolt on Telos, Xanatos' homeworld. JMA
Oh, ok. Two more questions then: 1. What novel/comic is he from? 2. Was he a full knight before he left? Edit: He was actually Qui-Gon's second Padawan. So Qui-Gon had three then?
you can read about him in the 'jedi apprentice' series. i never got far in that series though. does anyone know whatever happens to him? it would be cool to think another apprentice of qui gon is out there somewhere.
"Yes, Qui-Gon had three Padawans. The identity of the first one is unknown." Not true anymore: See the New Essential Guide.
Ah, but it does. Check out Dan's own words on the subject: "For the Ultimate Guide to Episode I, Haden Blackman and I had planned to address the issue of Qui-Gon's "first Padawan." Haden developed a female Cathar (panther-like alien) Jedi, but it was eventually decided by Lucasfilm that the Visual Dictionary is mistaken on the point that Qui-Gon had two Padawans prior to Obi-Wan. So Xanatos is Qui-Gon's first and only Padawan prior to Kenobi."
This Xanatos character seems badass. What's the name of the novel or comic book that he appeared in??
See my signature, but he was around until I think book # 6. Heck he is real popular. You need to check out the Xanatos Estrogen Brigade's web site. A big favorite of mine! LOL! Do I love Xani or what? Hands down the sexiest darksider.
No, the latest word on Xanatos from LFL (this came after their statement to Wallace) is in the SW databanks. Qui-Gon dismissed his earlier success as a teacher, and often called Xanatos his "first apprentice." This accounts for all discrepancies. Apparently history recorded him as having only two apprentices. Now, more info on Xanatos. He was an apprentice of Qui-Gon's who turned to the Dark Side, and ran the gargantuan mining company Offworld. Xanatos was working behind the scenes in Jedi Apprentice 1-8, but only appeared in 2, 7, and 8. You can find more info on him in The Darkside Sourcebook, The New Essential Guide to Characters, Cloak of Deception, and SW.com's databanks. He first appeared in Jedi Apprentice. TC
xanatos was Qui-gons first padawan who turned to the dark side. he coused alot of problems for the jedi council and when obi-wan and qui-gon track him down and almost defeat him he commits suicid-all this happens in the jedi apprentice books. i hope this is some help.
I don think he comited suicid did'nt he just fall in or get pushed or somthing? and what book did his aprentise die in? What was the name of Qui Gons first padawan?
no he killed himself Xanatos jumped in the acid pond It's in Jedi Apprentice #8 - The Day of Reckoning "You will never have the satisfaction of killing me, Qui-Gon Jinn," he said softly. "And I will never submit to anyone's laws. Your hate drove you, though you won't admit it. You destroyed me because you could not save me. I am your biggest failure. Live with that. And live with this." "No!" Qui-Gon cried, starting forward But he was too late. With a cruel smile that stretched his lips over his teeth like an animal, Xanatos took two quick steps back into the boiling black pool.
Ah man, that's badass. Talk about leaving a HUGE burden on someones shoulders. Poor Qui-Gon, no wonder he seemed so damn compassionate towards Anakin in TPM. Even when the Jedi Council could predict his dark future.
Yeah. Same name, different villain. The name of Qui-Gon's first apprentice is unknown, and Xanatos was still a padawan when he left the Order. TC
I lost an argument on the xanatos' death thing i havent read them for ages. Should really get my own copys. I think wthe answer to that question kind off spoilt the plot of part of the books for those who havent read them sorry. But they are a good read.
