    in a seperate post i was asking who palpatine was refering to about only one defying death,i then found the answer in the rots script
    QUI-GON: (V.O.) The ability to defy oblivion can be achieved, but only for oneself. It was accomplished by a Shaman of the Whills. It is a state acquired through compassion, not greed.
    so what or who are the whills are they a group like the jedi and sith or a species,
    other than qui-gons reference the only other time i can remember anything about the whills was in the front of the novelisation of a new hope and that gave a small description of the palpatines rise to power and was called from the journal of the whills {i think}

    The Whills, in short, are an ancient order of higher beings that known to have a prowess with the Force. They have no form as of yet and were one of the original concepts of the Force. It was once speculated that Yoda's species was called Whill as well.

    Actually, this could explain better. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Whills

    In short, the Whills are about as mysterious as some aspects of the Force.

    i have just had a look on wookiepedia and found this.
    "Originally, I was trying to have the story be told by somebody else (an immortal being known as a Whill); there was somebody watching this whole story and recording it, somebody probably wiser than the mortal players in the actual events. I eventually dropped this idea, and the concepts behind the Whills turned into the Force. But the Whills became part of this massive amount of notes, quotes, background information that I used for the scripts; the stories were actually taken from the Journal of the Whills."

    i think the father from the clone wars mortis episodes could be the whill, qui-gon was also in those episodes

    That's something that crossed my mind as well. The only issue I see with that was Qui-Gon was not a Force Ghost in that episode, he was Force Vision, or so it would seem and would have to most likely be to better gel with the Yoda/Obi-Wan scene in ROTS. But the Father could very well be a Whill. I always pictured the Whills as a more advanced version of the Jedi in terms of the order, like transcended monks to the Jedi's neophyte monk. The "Force Family" from the Mortis arc could be Whills,it is a fun thought to toy with.
