he had to become Vader to defeat the Sith

 

Actually he never defeated the Sith as Vader. It was in choosing to become Anakin again that he was able to defeat Palpatine and destroy the Sith forever.

I believe that the greatest Jedi's were:-
(i) Luminara
(ii) Aayla Secura
(iii) Kit Fisto

When he destroyed the emperor (Palpatine) he had turned back to being Anakin, and not Vader.

 

Bet he could wish he turned back into looking like Anakin again, and not Vader.

 

I voted Qui-Gon, I've always seen him as a great Jedi Master and Ep3 makes him top of the list imo.

 

I voted for Anakin, but after reading ROTS novel...im think Qui gon was better

 

I suppose all of them have their strong points and weak points.

Some have stronger points than others.

Anakin and Yoda for example.

I think you have to narrow it down to Obi-Wan, Yoda or Luke. All the others are hardly what you would call great Jedi.

Anakin may have been the most powerful, but he was hardly "great".

Or Qui-Gon, people keep forgetting, Qui-Gon was the first Jedi to ever discover life after death.

 

Yeah, but he was killed by a Sith Lord that even his Padawan managed to beat, so he may be been pretty powerful with the whole blue ghost bit, but he sucked with a saber.

 

Meh he had a bad day, everyone gets bad days. And if you remember correctly the only reason Obi-Wan beat Maul was because he got to cocky with the whole sparks thing. Maul had Obi-Wan hanging off the edge of a ractor shaft.
