Something Dave Filoni said about Yoda honoring his master with his backwards speech made me wonder. Seems like his master was a really good friend for Yoda and probably the most important person for him. That says a lot about the relationship between Yoda and his master, who was probably one of the most emotionally detached Jedi ever. Also think for becoming so close and important to a member of Yoda's species, as well as for training such a person as a padawan, it could be very important that the master might also have at least a similar life span as Yoda. Considering that Grogu was still a baby when he was 50 years old. Wonder if Yoda's master will eventually be revealed as still being alive during the High Republic era and will appear in a novel or comic. Gesendet von meinem TA-1053 mit Tapatalk
Most likely who exactly Yoda's master is will probably be one of those things never delved into out of a desire to keep Yoda more mysterious. At most I could see him getting some vague references, but I certainly don't expect to see him appear on screen in the foreseeable future. Could he still be alive? Technically, yes, there are a few species with Yoda level life spans, but not many, so overall I would say unlikely. Due to this lack of information I am just going to keep imagining N'Kata Del Gormo as Yoda's master until something contradicts that.
Yoda had many masters, not just one. But I have a headcanon I so far told nobody about that Yoda's master, who he honors with his backwards speech pattern, was involved with or became a Sith Lord actually and part of the reason Yoda knew about the Rule of Two. The Reason is, the AOTC Sith Holocron uses backwards upside down latin in aurebesh for a Sith inscription of "in umbris potestas est". So while not quite the same, what if the Master Yoda honors with his speech is actually one versed in these creative Sith language uses? But only through his love for those did Yoda find out his Master had gone to the Dark Side and ultimately faced him and ended him, thinking he ended the secret Sith line with him. Ever since he honors him with this speech pattern for memory of the good times they had before, as well as to warn any Sith versed in similiar language patterns that he knows and is aware and watchful for such.
In Legends there is a reference that N'Kata Del Gormo was Yoda Master i hope that the New Canon uses this Character since in Legends Yoda Origin was never explored
