Who's Stronger: Anakin or Luke?

Who`s stronger? Anakin or Luke and why?

luke ,because he is able to overcome his fear and anger , and Anakin could not.

 

Luke is mentally much stronger, he never loses sight of right and wrong and keeps the good of the universe ahead of personal gain (e.g. saving his loved ones is more important than saving the galaxy); but Anakin/Vader probably have more force powers, if that is what you mean--but in the end, that without mental toughness like Luke has and $2.00 gets you to Brooklyn.

Without a doubt Anakin is a brilliant warrior. His skills proved to be some of the most amazing and potent in all of Star Wars history. Being the Chosen One forseen thousands of years before his arrival, Anakin lives up to his expectations (speaking of his power, not his way of bringing balance). At the age of 23 he is arguably on par with Force Powerhouse Yoda (in power, not knowledge). Anakin Skywalker is truly legendary for his command of the Force.

... and is second only to his son, Luke Skywalker.

Luke is the most powerful character in the history of Star Wars. He'd defeat Exar Kun. He'd defeat Palpatine. He'd defeat Dooku, Maul, Exile, or any of the Jedi. Though 70's special effects made Luke look a little lame compared to the special effects of today, it becomes clear that, eventually, Luke surpasses everyone... even his father.

 

I agree, it's Luke.

I wonder, and I'm interested in what you all think, if the fact that Luke discovered and developed his powers at a time when the Jedi were at their lowest point, when they were not leaders and the guardians of the galaxy but rather on the verge of extinction, if he was able to stay more grounded, and develop more wisdom. He was more concerned with survival and preserving the wisdom handed down to him by Yoda, than he was with being the most powerful Jedi ever.

On the other hand, Anakin developed during a time when the Jedi were still considered elite and powerful (how powerful they really were, as a group, is up for debate), so he saw himself as an elite among the elite, which I think contributed a great deal to his arrogance. That arrogance and lack of wisdom lessens his strength, whatever his powers may be.

 

Anakin had the potential to become the strongest, be he fell to the darkside before he made it. So Luke was stronger.

 

Luke became stronger than Anakin after Return of the Jedi.

 

I believe that Luke was much stronger mentally, however, I believe that in a Duel, anakin is MUCH stronger. Darth Vader was not willing to kill his son, even though he had the chance in episode V.

Physically, I would say Anakin pre-fall to the Dark Side. He's had more training and more experience in battle. Mentally, it's Luke, no question. He did not succumb to the temptation of the Dark Side, something Anakin could not do.

 

anakin was physically stronger before he turned darth and got all burned up. but luke is so much stronger mentally. You knew Luke would never turn to the dark side. Anakin(if we didn't already know the story) I would've been suspicious about.

Anakin was, ultimately, strong for being able to turn back to the lightside. But Luke, and all other Jedi, were far more stronger for never falling in the first place.

Anakin has lots of power, moreso than perhaps anyone, but he has little real strength. Luke has a lot of power and a lot of real strength.

I'm gonna disagree with the popular response and say that Luke could defeat Anakin in a duel, and that Anakin is not more powerful. It would be close duel probably. After ROTJ, about fifteen years after if I'm not mistaken, Luke emerges as THE most powerful warrior (that counts everyone) in Star Wars. Now Vader likely could have defeated Luke in the movies fairly easy. Neverthelss, after ROTJ Luke continues to train in the ways that Obi-Wan and Yoda taught him (which, considering the urgency of the time, was very intense training), not to mention he was continually tutored by the ghosts of Obi-Wan, Yoda, and Anakin. for years.

Luke is not only stronger mentally, but in combat as well.

 

O luke wins this, he is mentaly way tougher than Anakin, and Luke is anakins son so he probaly has the smae amount of midichrlions and is just as force sensitive.

Luke, because in AOTC Anakin was striken by force lightning for a few seconds and got knocked out. In ROTJ Luke was striken by force lightning for a few miniutes and stayed awake!

 

so you beleive Luke can out bench press Anakin? you must of missed revenge of th sith. mentally Luke is stronger in terms of Puysical stuff, its pretty obvious Luke is not even close to strength as Anakin.

I get the feeling that there are words missing from this sentence. Please elaborate.

 

menatally luke was strong and could resist the dark side and not let his emotions get into it but anakin is mentally and phisically stronger because after bein seduced by the dark side he came back to being a good guy which had to be extremely hard

I think Anakin was partially knocked out as a combination of the lightning and being thrown against the wall. I believe Anakin was a better warrior than Luke, because Lucas said that he improved the swordfights in the prequel trilogy and that we never saw real Jedi fight in the OT, only old men, mechanical men, and young boys without much training. He said that in the prequels the fighing is superior because you see well trained Jedi in their prime fighting. So this seems to indicate that Anakin, and most Jedi in the preqeuls for that matter, are more powerful than Luke was in ROTJ.

Luke would not defeat Exar Kun. He would not Defeat Palpatine. Yes, he's good, but don't exaggerate.
