I'm talking about This scene where both Anakin and Obi Wan used force push. Didn't Anakin had more midichlorians than Obi Wan ? So why it ended in a draw ?
Out of universe explanation, because GL thought it’d be an awesome thing to add to the fight. In universe explanation, Obi Wan has more experience & training. Also he has better control over his emotions, and can focus better. I thought It was established in some Legends material (possibly Canon as well) that Obi Wan had to train much more ferociously than many others, as he was not as naturally gifted as other force users. If I’m wrong, someone correct me. Regardless, Obi Wan’s mastery of the force is able to counteract Anakin’s natural strength. Resulting in a stalemate there.
He’s no slouch, and considering all the training exercises he must’ve had with Anakin during the latter’s days as a Padawan, Obi-Wan probably had to train extra hard just so Anakin didn’t overcome him.
Midi-chlorians are only a marker of potential in the Force. Anakin has the raw potential to be stronger than any other Force user ever; however, he lacks the focus, the experience, the will to fulfil that potential. Obi-Wan, on the other hand, is not as naturally powerful. He makes up for this by being the supreme example of Jedi focus and determination; he is the archetype. This is all covered very well in the RotS novel; Anakin has the power, Obi-Wan has the smarts. As a result, their abilities level out.
Exactly. It's just like athletics. Tons of athletes bigger, faster, stronger, quicker than Jerry Rice and Larry Bird - but very few as good as they were.
Story-wise, the whole sequence shows brothers falling out. They know each other's every strength and weakness. They know each other's best moves.
Answer, both Anakiin and Obi-Wan are Jedi Guardians (blue lightsaber) who focus on lightsaber combat and have a limited training in Force Powers, unlke Yoda who is Jedi Consular trained deeply in the Force.
Because Anakin has not reached his potential yet at that point, he still needed training. When Vader met Kenobi again in ANH, he even says ''The circle is now complete. When I left you, I was but the learner. Now I am the master.'' He also didn't receive any Sith training yet at that point, but that was probably unnecessary after the Mustafar duel, he took his lessons well after that defeat and the suit made him stronger in the Force according to the new canon Lords of the Sith novel. I don't think that's canon. Also, Yoda is a more skilled lightsaber user than many blue lightsaber users, so that's obviously not the case. As well as Cin Drallig uses a green lightsaber, and Cin Drallig was the ''battlemaster'' of the Jedi temple and he was the head of the Jedi temple guards. Another example is Kirak Infil'a, and his speciality as a Jedi master was lightsaber combat and his lightsaber was green. Qui-Gon and Luke were also more skilled than many Jedi, and Obi-Wan has become a very skilled swordsman because of Qui-Gon's training.
Well I consider Legends and Canon as equal. Besides surely TCW showed that blue saber wielders and green saber wielders differ in combat styles.
